Metro Central Update Preview!

Welcome y'all to another update of your favorite post-apocalyptic food truck simulator!

Metro Central is a large city with nothing really extraordinary at all. The plain hum-drum life is a nice break from the chaos of the world, despite the dark clouds looming overhead.

That's not to say it's an easy challenge, oh no. Not only are there difficult levels ahead, but this area introduces a new food truck that can unleash a super attack! Max Wieners is on the scene with a sniper rifle that targets your temperature regulator. What does that do exactly? Well, it prevents your holding stations from getting too hot- and once its destroyed, your holding station food's freshness levels will decrease 90% faster than they normally would for the entire day!

It is an insane attack that will destroy most players, since holding station foods will only last seconds. Good luck!

In addition to the 35+ levels there will be achievements and two extra trinkets, and the next update will feature a much larger trinket update! With the extra time I've had between this update and Newer Orleans I've also fixed a number of bugs that have needed to be addressed for a while, such as the Halo-Halo impossible recipe, the Creme Brulee torch bug that would "freeze" the brulee, decreased Well Done cooking times for meats by 50%, and more!

Thanks y'all and look for the update early next week!

Newer Orleans Update (v0.75) is Now Available!

Newer Orleans Update Preview!

This is by far not only the biggest update we've done for CSD 3 up to this point, but maybe the biggest update I've ever done in my whole career makin' games! How crazy is that? Let's dig into all the new goodies that you'll be getting next week!

Welcome to Newer Orleans

The newest territory, Newer Orleans, is a wasteland in dire need of hope. Perhaps you can shine a light with your delicious food, Chef. Just watch out for the new Esteban's food truck- their new nasty hack attack can blind you to important UI elements, and makes prepping food even harder than usual.

While the general guidelines for this area recommend a full Level 20 or above hazmat suit for outside use, you'll find most citizens just want to continue living and dressing as they did before. Is it a desperate yearning for life before the bombs, or ignorance, or carelessness that they don't all suit up? All I know is that guy wants a King Cake, and he's gonna get one, by golly.

Enjoy over 30 levels with some of the hardest stops yet! Good luck Chef!

Steam Trading Cards & Achievements

Along with new challenging achievements we will also be releasing Steam trading cards! Collect all eight and earn delicious Gelato badges, emoticons and backgrounds.

Additional Dialogue from Whisk and Cleaver

All new end-day dialogue lines from @negaoryx and @havanarama have been added to the game! You can get a taste of it here. These were all improv'd by Havana and negaoryx and it was a lot of fun to record at the end of a very long VO session, and I'm so happy we're getting them into the game. They will pop up sporadically during the course of the game and will not be included as a "repeat" line, so they'll be a bit more rare.

Customize your Food Truck

Finally, the biggest update yet- the ability to customize your food truck! We have 40 trinkets available for this update, with dozens more to come in future updates. You'll be able to place statues and posters all over your truck, some earned, some you can buy, and a few that are challenges you must complete.

In CSD 2 the editor was, to put it mildly, not the best in terms of user interaction. We wanted to make sure we got it right this time, and I think you'll find it to be a much better overall experience. That said we're definitely looking for feedback on any improvements that you might like in the editor, so be sure to check it out!

...And More!

There's still plenty more to the update, including new food descriptions, some balancing changes, and, well, more! I can't wait for y'all to dig in next week.

Thanks once again for all the positive support y'all gave when we announced the delay of this update from March, and I hope you feel that the wait was worth it! And thank you for all the positive reviews- we're so close to 500 reviews, a huge milestone, all thanks to y'all!

Thanks again, stay safe out there, and cya soon with the update!

Update v0.75 Coming Early April

Hey y'all! As you've seen so far we've been doing well in sticking to our original Early Access roadmap. While the schedule I initially revealed was a bit of a tight one, I was confident that I'd be able to hit all the targets, barring any kind of catastrophe.

Well, I uh don't think I need to tell you that something just like that happened.

Unfortunately this means I have to push back our next update to early April instead of the end of this month. It's been crazy trying to reorganize our schedules and refocus on making games, but I'm finally in a good place to where I can start makin' levels and improvements again.

While this will also push back our original May estimate of finishing the game back to June, this will also give me a chance to work on other components of the game. The original tight schedule didn't allow for me to really dig into the meat of the game to make engine improvements, and with this delay I'm going to do just that! This includes:

  • More great voice work by negaoryx and Havana Mahoney! There are a number of great improv lines that I can't wait to add to the game.
  • Ability to remap the right stick for auto-serve so that the gamepad functions more like CSD 2.
  • The ability to customize your truck to be much larger in scope than planned. Originally I just wanted around a dozen or two dozen trinkets and only have the ability to turn them on or off. Now there will be trinket updates once a month with a much more comprehensive editor that allows you to fine tune how you want your trinkets to be displayed!
  • Better subtitle support for cutscenes.
  • And lots more!

You can expect v0.75 to include a brand new territory and the Trinkets editor as well as a few of the above improvements in early April!

Thanks everyone and I deeply apologize for the delay. I hope all of you are safe and doing well in these crazy times, and I'll be back next week with a preview of all the fun goodies we have in store. Take care,

-David
