Workshop Update is Out Now!

Hello there, Landlords!

We're very excited to release our first post-release major update for The Tenants since our 1.0 launch last year. While we had cautiously put Steam Workshop as the last entry on our post-1.0 development roadmap, we actually started working on it much earlier, hoping to get a headstart, and in fact, it turned out that we managed to make it work much sooner than expected. Thus we shuffled our roadmap plans a little and are ready to bring you the Workshop Update now!
Steam Workshop
The Tenants now features a Steam Workshop integration as a way for our community to participate in the creation of content for the game by sharing and trying out other community members' creations in your own game.

As part of the release, we have built a custom set of tools known as The Tenants Modding Tools that every owner of the game should have access to. To get everyone started, we have also uploaded a number of unique custom items ourselves to showcase the capabilities of our tools. Make sure to give them all a shot!

Visit our Steam Workshop page here to subscribe to the new custom content.

Check out our Workshop Guide for more information on how to get and create mods for the game.
District levels
One of the things we wanted to add in this update is a new form of progression for the city and how well you do in each district. With the Workshop Update, we are introducing more rewards for those who decide to go through all the jobs and apartments in each part of Wondersville.

You'll be able to gain experience by completing jobs, purchasing, and renting apartments. We have prepared a unique set of rewards for each district, so be sure to max them all out to get the most out of your apartments!
Job favors
Jobs are always something that we strive to improve, finding new ways to differentiate them and add more in terms of stakes to each one. With the new update, some jobs will come in as favors for your tenants, completing which will yield bonus happiness and XP for your tenant. Just another way to make that one annoying tenant happy!
New player avatars
Along with an option to change your avatar in an already existing save, we have added a total of 20 new choices for you to pick from. Looking at the new roster, we think they turned out pretty great!
Additionally, with the new update, you can change the avatar in existing save files. Simply click on it and pick a new one!
New low-level jobs in Slums & progression pace rebalance
Based on player feedback, we have decided to add more jobs available at the beginning of the game in the Slums district. At this point, the player doesn't have access to many apartments yet, so they need to rely on jobs to earn money. With the increased variety of those, the early part of the game should be much more entertaining.

To help with the slow progression at the start of the game even further, we went through the job payouts and significantly increased them for a lot of the gigs. What's more, happy tenants will now show their appreciation with extra money by giving you tips with each rent payment, provided that you have indeed kept them beyond exuberant.
Swap assistant
If you've reached the end of the game, you might have noticed that to change your end-game assistant, you had no other option than to start a new game. Needless to say, it also made the journey to completing all the achievements a pretty arduous one. For a price of 750 landlord points, you can now swap your assistant any time you want!
Elite contract entries
Steve's Guidebook has been expanded with a list of all elite contracts in each district you have unlocked. This way, you will be able to track your completion progress much more easily and see what items you have unlocked through each contract.
New items
Can't have a major update without a new batch of items! This time we focused on going through all your suggestions on our social media and put together an array of new bathroom items, sauna accessories, desks, chairs, rugs, and other clutter decorations!

We have also taken the opportunity to add more unique items to jobs, items that can only be found and salvaged with Uncle Steve. In turn, we have reduced the amount of trash that players need to clean up and focused on giving you more unique rewards for going through with all the sweeping and mopping.

As always, there are even more changes in the game, so be sure to check out the full changelog down below, and see you around in Wondersville!
