Join us for a livestream with the West of Dead devs on Wednesday 17 June!



Join us on Wednesday 17 June at 18:30 CEST for a live stream with Adam, co-founder of Upstream Arcade and some of the peeps from Raw Fury!

We will play and talk all things West of Dead - We are also going to show a whole new, never seen before chapter of the game!

Hey Outlaws!

As we said before, the beta will be open until the day we release and we are happy to announce that we are releasing on Steam on the 18 June 2020 at 15:00 CEST.

The beta will be taken down at 8:59 am CEST on the 18th as we have some technical bits and pieces to do to get the release ready and close the beta page. But until then, the beta is open and ready for you to sharpen your skills before you take on the whole game.

So, prepare to awaken, trapped in the underworld, surrounded by evil souls bent on hunting you down. To escape your grim and gritty Purgatory, make sure to take the tactical approach and vary your playstyle, weapons, and abilities for each new threat because the 18th is not so far away!

Anyway, we are excited and can’t wait to share it with you all! And we hope you like the new trailer!

P.S. Don’t forget that anyone who plays the OPEN Beta, gets a 15% discount off of the base game when it releases!

Hey everyone!

The gates of Purgatory are open for one last beta!

Plus, we have some news for you - If you have played the West of Dead Open Beta on Steam you’re eligible for a 15% discount off of the full price for the first month of the West of Dead release! So put your fingers on your twin-stick trigger and get ready to claim it before it disappears!

The discount will be valid from day one of release for 30 days! And if you haven’t participated in the Open Beta yet, you still have time to join in (though as we said, this is the last beta!).

The West of Dead Beta Starts Today at 16:00 CEST - Here's What's New!



Hey everyone.

The beta will run from today (30 April), starting at 16:00 CEST (07:00 PST) until the 7th May (23:59 PST and 08:59 on the 8th May CEST). If you enjoy the beta, we would really appreciate you adding West of Dead to your wishlist.

This time around we are showcasing the first 2 levels, and while, if this is not your first trip to Purgatory, you may have played them before, the levels are a bit different from what you remember.

We have taken the time to take on your feedback and these levels have had a lot of fixes and polish added to them. See the end of this post for the list of fixes

Right now, the team is working hard on getting the game through the last stretch of development as the release is looming on the horizon (more news on that soonish!).

Anyway, for now, it’s time to unholster your gun and start blasting your way through the murky depths of Purgatory.

(We recommend people to play with a gamepad for this Beta-session).

But before you do that - here’s what’s changed!

Firstly, to everyone that played the game. THANKS. Your feedback has helped us direct the development of the game. We think the game has had some significant changes since the first beta, and there is still loads more. Here are but a few…

Changes/Additions
- We added a Tutorial level. Your feedback really helped us focus this on areas that were the hardest to grasp.
- Armory (with upgradeable start items). We added a new Armory (which will be upgradeable in the final game).
- Changed Health Mechanics. We made the health recovery system more versatile, with different 'charms' allowing you to recover health through different mechanics.
- Runes! The Runes that you collect off some special bosses now unlock new abilities (including Teleportation, which was previously on by default - :P ).

Quality of life
Your feedback really helped point out
- Camera style, we re-jigged the camera view when in combat to prioritise simplicity and readability, so that aiming feels more reliable.
- More Animations, Sound Effects (so many), Visual Effects
- We totally re-designed the GUI, so that the pause menu is more helpful
- The player now drops items after picking up new ones
- Holstered weapons are now visible on the hero

Balance
- Lots of balancing, whether it was enemy damage, dive timings and health recovery mechanics, enemy group compositions. We adjusted, tuned and re-jigged so that the game feels fairer.

Bugs!
- Thanks for helping spot bugs (so many bugs...), we're still clamping down on them, but your insight has really helped.
- We also fixed the one amazing bug that meant the hero tripped up on nothing after having a conversation with the trader. It was very, very strange.
