From enhanced team management tools to Arena Mode refinements and updated ladder rules, this season brings meaningful improvements for both veterans and new coaches.
Climb the ranks or claim your legacy
Competitive players still have time to make a name for themselves. The Arena Finals are coming—open to any coach who completes a flawless 7-win run. With Sprint Rankings, Champions Cups, and Ladder Playoffs all offering paths to the 2025 World Championship, the stakes have never been higher. Whether you're here to experiment or to dominate, now’s the time to step up and prove your worth.

Competitive scene | Season 8 Update
OFFICIAL LADDER, CHAMPIONS CUP & LADDER PLAYOFFS
Season 8 has started, and I would like to highlight some of the changes implemented this season for competitions. Following a successful testing period, we have officially integrated Sprint Rankings into the game. You now have access to both the General Rankings and the Sprint Rankings, each featuring faction-specific filters.

While the General Rankings remain the classic rankings you are accustomed to, encompassing every match played by a team, the Sprint Rankings only consider a team’s first 20 matches. Note that matchmaking rules are stricter for these initial 20 matches, ensuring greater fairness and protection for teams competing in the Sprint Rankings.

Over successive seasons, we’ve recognized that there are numerous ways to enjoy Blood Bowl, and our philosophy is straightforward: rather than striving for a one-size-fits-all solution that satisfies nobody fully, we aim to empower players to experience Blood Bowl in their preferred manner. Sprint Rankings offer an engaging environment at lower TV, featuring a fixed number of matches where random skill acquisition carries significant risks. Conversely, General Rankings allow players to fully develop their teams in a sandbox environment with minimal restrictions.

This approach will continue evolving to ensure the best possible player experience, incorporating new features planned for upcoming seasons, such as the introduction of Redraft.

For the elite among you, we have decided to split the Champions Cup into two distinct competitions:

 • The Champions Cup will remain accessible exclusively through the Sprint Rankings, bringing together the season’s top performers in a resurrection format, with custom teams built according to a specific ruleset.
 • The Official Playoffs have returned, available exclusively through the General Rankings. This competition gathers the season’s top performers based on General Rankings, played with teams that continue progressing throughout the tournament.

Both competitions award tickets for the World Championship: a Direct Ticket for the winner and a Play-In Ticket for the runner-up.

Both the Champions Cup and the Official Playoffs are officially sanctioned events, administered by our 2024 World Champion, Andriy!

Meanwhile, the S7 Champions Cup is currently underway! You can follow the latest results in this article: https://www.bloodbowl-thegame.com/s7-champions-cup/
ARENA & ARENA FINALS
In Season 7, we introduced the Arena as a community event in Blood Bowl 3, and it received very positive feedback. As a result, we’ve decided to turn it into a permanent game mode starting from Season 8. Its ruleset will evolve slightly each season, highlighting different factions and encouraging diverse playstyles.

Just as the Official Ladder features the Champions Cup and the Official Playoffs, the Arena mode will now feature its own end of season competition: the Arena Finals. Coaches who successfully complete the Arena will qualify for the Arena Finals and compete using one of their successful teams—so make sure not to delete it! For this first edition in Season 8, the competition will be a single-elimination Official Tournament, administered by respected community members you may already know: Coach Morg, Kristofer Bengtsson, and Jimmy Fantastic.

The Arena mode uses a ruleset comparable to that of the World Championship, and we can already confirm that the Arena Finals are intended to serve as another path toward qualification in future seasons. In case of ticket made available because of a player forfeit, the winner of the S8 edition will also be on pole position to get to the World Championship.

Stay tuned for more details about the tournament format, rewards, and registration procedures, as slots will be limited for this inaugural edition!
2025 SPRING SUPER LEAGUE
With Diomed’s victory in the Winter Super League, last year’s World Championship finalist has already secured his return to the competition!

The Spring Super League, administered by Jimmy Fantastic, is now underway, and you can follow the latest results here: https://www.bloodbowl-thegame.com/2025-spring-super-league/
