BLOOD BOWL 3 - Closed Beta

Blood Bowl 3's Closed Beta starts today at 5.30pm (GMT) and will be your taste of what to expect from Blood Bowl 3!

The Beta does is not representative of the final game with just a selection of the teams, modes, and content you can expect from the final release. It's taken us a long time to reach the point where we're comfortable sharing this first look, but there's still more to come. So make sure you keep up to date with all the progress on development here and on our socials. With that out of the way, let's talk about the beta!

What will be available in the Beta?

Game Modes:

  • Friendly Match vs AI
  • Quick Match Online
  • 1v1 local (hots-eat)

Content:

  • 3 Team available: Black Orcs, Imperial Nobility and the Elven Union.
  • 3 Pitches (Human, Imperial and Black Orcs).
  • 3 coaches
  • 3 cheerleader teams
  • 1 ball
  • 1 dice skin
  • Team customisation basic elements (colors, emblems)

Known issues:

Disclaimer: The game is far from its final version! This is a BETA, and it comes with its fair share of unfinished business. Some we know about, some we don't so please let us know about anything you've come across on the forums or on Discord.

This is a list of known issues, major and minor:

  • The commentaries haven't been completely implemented yet and are not representative of the final version.

  • Additionally, we have work to do on the AI in the game. We know this is an important aspect for the Blood Bowl community, so want to let you know that the AI in the beta does not represent the quality planned for the final version.

A few other issues:

  • You might experience some unexpected crashes.
  • The Bonus Timer bar is displayed in other Timer settings than Competitive.
  • Star players do not have their visual displayed during the « Inducements » phase.
  • Part of the game UI might appear during cinematics.
  • The game UI remains displayed in Picture Mode.
  • If a player scores a Touchdown during the last turn of a match, the celebration cinematic is not displayed.
  • The ball might stay on the ground under players when they get it.
  • Some localization issues may occur for languages other than French and English.

This beta will be the occasion to give you a first look at BB3 but also for you to give us your feedback about the game so we can improve it before the official release!

You can give your feedback on Discord.

There is a specific channel for feedback: #🔥bb3-closed-beta-feedback🔥

Have a great time playing Blood Bowl 3 and see you on the field!

Blood Bowl 3's closed beta starts this week, and you can register to join

Blood Bowl is a bit like American football, if the players were occasionally allowed to eat each other. The Blood Bowl III release date is now going to be sometime in February 2022, but there are going to be some opportunities to play the violent Warhammer-themed football game well before then.

While the full release will see Blood Bowl III take to the field on consoles, PC players will get to jump into Early Access on Steam beginning in September. Publisher Nacon hasn't said yet how much of the final game will be included when Early Access begins, but when it does launch next year you'll be working with a roster of 12 teams, each with its own pitch and cheerleaders, plus both single- and multiplayer modes.

If the fall still seems like too long to wait, don't fret! A closed beta kicks off this week, running June 3-13. To register, head to the official site and join the waiting list. You'll need to provide a name, date of birth, info on whether you're familiar with Blood Bowl or not, and your preferred platform. After registering, you'll just have to wait for an email invitation to play.

New release date for fantasy football game Blood Bowl 3 revealed by fake beer advert

The third entry in the Blood Bowl series - which adapts Games Workshop's popular fantasy football game to digital - was originally announced in 2019, and was supposed to be out sometime towards the end of 2020. It was revealed back in August, however, that it was going to be delayed to "early" 2021, but it seems we may have to wait a bit longer than that.

A recent announcement, talking about fictitious beer Bugman's XXXXXX of all things, suggests a later release window for Blood Bowl III of August 2021, which has since been confirmed by the official steam page.

Blood Bowl is probably the most iconic Warhammer-related franchise outside of the main Games Workshop heavy-weights. Set in an alternate version of the main Warhammer Fantasy world, the various races settle their differences not on the battlefield, but on the pitch. It's a turn-based strategy game at heart, with Blood Bowl itself resembling a gruesome take on American Football where you can see vehicles, back-stabbing, and literal death occur in any given match.
