Hollow Knight: Silksong News

Hollow Knight: Silksong won't cost nearly as much as they could probably charge for it

Team Cherry have confirmed release times and price points for Hollow Knight: Silksong. It'll cost $19.99, €19.99 and ¥2300 at launch on Thursday 4th September, with pricing for other regions such as the UK to follow. As an indication, the above pricepoints equate to around £17, but I wouldn't be surprised if they charged £19.99 for it, purely for the sake of symmetry.

It's traditional among games journalists to illustrate pricepoints in terms of high street chain cups of coffee. But this is Silksong, a game anticipated as fervently as the ancient Mayans once anticipated the coming of an eclipse, so I will resort to more ornate means of comparison: Silksong will cost you 4200000th as much as a B-52 Stratofortress. It will cost you three-sixteenths of your soul on a rainy Friday, or two-sixteenths if the sun is out. It will cost you considerably less than they could probably charge for it. I'm not saying we should be grateful, mind, but we can breathe a sigh of a relief that this isn't being published by EA, Take-Two or Microsoft.

Hollow Knight Silksong's first speedrunner sets two currently unbeatable records

In just over a week, I'll bid farewell to my friends, family, and my collection of rocks as I embark on my Hollow Knight Silksong journey. There's an arduous quest ahead of me, and I'm expecting more than my fair share of crashouts. What will be a Herculean task for a mere mortal like me, though, is just a warm up for the speedrunning Adonises who continue to make a mockery of gaming's hardest challenges. In fact, before I've even been able to touch down in Pharloom, a runner's already set not just one, but two world records.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Has Knocking Indies Off Their Release Date, Fans Call It “Silksong’d”

As Hollow Knight: Silksong‘s release date was announced within two weeks of its release, fans are calling titles that are delayed due to it, “Silksong’d.”

Hollow Knight: Silksong‘s newly announced release date was a big surprise for fans, with an echo of “finally” hitting the entire internet at once from fans fatigued with the six-year wait since its initial announcement. However, now that the dust has settled and the September 4 release is right around the corner, some indie Game studios have decided to delay their titles out of September entirely due to Team Cherry’s command over attention. A mega-popular X (formerly Twitter) gaming poster, Wario64, is referring to these titles as “Silksong’d,” and that post can be seen below.

Much-anticipated 'horror Balatro' delays launch to dodge Hollow Knight Silksong

It takes a special kind of game to inspire a flock of other developers to follow in its wake. Dark Souls is one. Rogue another, although many younger roguelike players have no clue where the name comes from. Many are starting to coin the term 'Balatro-like,' as well. CloverPit is one of many such games, inspired by LocalThunk's effortlessly engaging poker roguelike. Replace the deck of cards with a one-armed bandit, and add in a sprinkle of scares, and you've got a recipe for success. However, CloverPit developer Panik Arcade has had to push its release back, and it's all down to Hollow Knight: Silksong.
