Turns out Hollow Knight: Silksong does have another difficulty mode, just not the one you probably want

Golly, that Hollow Knight: Silksong is a bit hard, 'ey? I'm not here to feed into that discourse right now, you've probably seen enough of that on Bluesky and in the comments of YouTube videos about the top 10 things you missed in Silksong. No, instead I'm here to tell you that things could be much, much worse apparently, as it turns out an entire difficulty mode is hidden within the metroidvania for you to unlock.

Hollow Knight Silksong's release has certainly been an interesting one. Having literally broken everything from Steam to the Xbox store, Team Cherry's highly anticipated Metroidvania is finally out in the world, debuting to glowing player reviews (ours is still incoming). But as time has gone on and the 'it's finally out' sparkle has worn off, some have started to really scrutinize the game. The first major complaint is about its difficulty: we all expected it to be hard, but not this hard. The second has focused on its respawn points, which are often placed relatively far away from bosses, in turn requiring you to rerun the gauntlet to get to them every time you die. In short, it's kicking players' asses, but the first Hollow Knight Silksong patch is taking some steps towards evening things out.

Hollow Knight: Silksong's first patch makes some early bosses slightly easier, out now in Steam and GOG beta

The notes for Hollow Knight: Silksong's first proper post-release patch have arrived. Team Cherry have been busy fixing bugs and making some "slight balance adjustments in the early game", which you can now give a go early via beta branches on Steam and GOG.
