Hey Birders!

We’re flying over today with a Valentine's Day special - a new, limited time event background. It's full of flowers, hearts and feelings. We've also used love and care to patch your nests a bit. That is, fixed some bugs.

Without further ado, here’s a lovely rundown:

Bugfixes:

• end-of-round goals point calculation fixed for some cases
  
• audio artifacts appearing sporadically when opening the game removed
  
• popup added in online multiplayer games, in-between player turns, possibly fixing some online related issues
  

Quality of life changes:

• option to manually reroll the bird feeder added in certain in-game situations
  

Misc:

• Valentine's Day background

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Even though this year has been filled with uneasiness and stress for just about anyone, we hope you'll be able to find time to unwind and relax as we enter this holiday season. Since Wingspan is a game that aims to relax and wind you down, we decided to bring a little holiday magic to your beautiful preserves.

In this update, you'll be able to set an entirely new, snowy background in the game. There's lots of snow, decorations and a strangely peculiar gift box. It's opened, but... Anyway, below are the patch details!

Hey birders, the Steam Awards nominations are here!

This couple of months following Wingspan's release have been crazy (in a good way!) for us. Hopefully, for you, playing WIngspan has been a relaxing experience, especially in these times full of uneasiness and stress. Our aim was to create a game true to its original and add features to it that enrich the experience. One that evokes that warm, cozy feeling which everybody knows and needs sometimes.

If you think we managed to achieve this, it would mean the world to us if you could nominate Wingspan for this year's Steam Awards in a category that we think fits the game's design philosophy pretty well - the Sit Back and Relax award. All it takes is a couple of clicks but to us, these clicks are so much more.

Today's patch is like a warbler - it's not a big one, but it's cute and fluffy. Can updates be cute and fluffy, you ask? Sure they can, as long as they bring something new and make something better. This update's just that.

Here are the details:

  - Hard AI (beta) option added

  - Improved performance on weaker devices
  

Test your habitat creating prowess against the hard AI now and see who comes out on top! Be aware though - this thing's not a cute fluffy warbler!

Do you hear that?

Someone... something's knocking on the window. You try to see what it is, but you can't. The thick fog outside, illuminated only by the faint candlelight of the Halloween pumpkin on the windowsill, makes it hard to distinguish shapes. As you get closer, the silhouette becomes sharper, clearer. A chill goes down your spine. You might not have been expecting it, but it's here nonetheless...

The Wingspan Halloween update! It's big and spooky and if you're expecting treats, it's got plenty!

• NEW MODE: Champ of the Birds - this completely new game mode is a weekly ladder for those of you birders who like to compete. Each week, you face an entirely new Automa challenge. Once you beat it, your score is saved and at the end of each week, the person who managed to score the most points is crowned as the Champ of the Birds!
  
  
• Halloween background - this sinister, foggy landscape will be available in the game for the duration of the Halloween event.
  
  
• Bugfixes:
  - fix for playing a second bird via bird power on the overview screen
  - fix for "repeat a brown power" on the overview screen
  - cards on the Automa screen that should not be clickable are no longer clickable
  - fix for some typos
  - fix for warning popups on overview screen
  
  
• Misc:
  - Chinese voice over and card fixes (some birds have better names now)
