Starstruck: Hands of Time News

Hello! Starstruck is participating in PAX Online 2020, which starts today! In fact, Starstruck was even selected as a PAX Rising game this year!

To celebrate that, I'm releasing a huge update to Starstruck's prologue demo. You can play it either by downloading the demo on this Steam page or downloading the standalone demo, Starstruck: Prologue.

Here's what's in the update:

[h2]Russian Language Support[/h2]



The demo is now completely playable in Russian! All of the text in the game is translated, including lyrics subtitles and images, so please give it a try if you're a Russian speaker. A lot of work went into this, so I hope you like it.

[h2]Free Play Mode (with two new songs)[/h2]



This update also introduces Free Play mode, a new feature which lets you instantly replay any song from the game. To access Free Play mode, clear the main story of the Prologue and then click on the Data icon on the ship's computer.

Within Free Play mode are also two new songs! These songs are pretty challenging on Master Mode, and I think playing them is pretty fun. Feel free to share your high scores.

Here's a list of the other changes in this patch:

• Made it possible to pause and restart or quit in the middle of songs
  
• Added run button support in the town area
  
• Changed the color to be purple for notes that represent the RT button on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers
  
• Made Dawn's brother animate during Inside These Walls
  
• Improved the visuals of the town area
  
• Various minor bugfixes

Starstruck: Hands of Time is a story-rich, genre-defying roleplaying rhythm adventure. Play guitar and explore a miniature diorama world as two guitarist claymation kids, and then help them progress by rampaging around their city as a giant destructive time-travelling hand.

In Starstruck’s world of 20XX, everything is artificial. The fences are made of popsicle sticks, the clouds are made of cotton balls, and the people are made of clay and felt. To everyone living in this world, this is normal, but they still feel an unexplained longing to participate in something bigger.




Edwin is a boy living in this model world who wants to be a famous rock star. In this world where everything is fake and flat, his desire is to rise up and become the center of everything.

Dawn is a girl in this world who feels held down by the tyrannical rule of her mother. She sees the structures of control around her as fake, and seeks to tear them down so she can live true to herself.




And there is a moon colonist who is on a mission to restore Earth to its true form.

In 1969, man reached new heights through modern technology by landing on the moon, only to find a vast, lonely landscape there that looked like nothing but endless clouds of pumice stone.

In Starstruck's future timeline, the moon’s empty landscape is home to the last humans left alive. In order to change this future, one moon colonist travels back in time to Edwin and Dawn's era.




This is basically the world of Starstruck. It’s a world that has been molded into an artificial model, on the brink of descending into nothingness, but the people there have not entirely forgotten what they’re missing, and look forward to the day that their world will be set right and restored to its true order.
