Wolfenstein: Youngblood Update 1.0.5 - NOW LIVE!

We’re pleased to announce the latest patch for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, version 1.0.5, now LIVE on PC! This update adds adds adjusted boss difficulties, weapon damage improvements, health bar toggles and other requested changes and features from you, our player community!

Thank you so much for your patience and support of Wolfenstein: Youngblood! We will continue to monitor the game and improve it with future updates as needed. We appreciate your feedback!

PATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Adjusted difficulty of all boss fights.
  • Enemies can now have their health bars toggled on or off in the Options menu. (This does not turn off armor types.)
  • Took a variety of actions to reduce the feeling of enemy “bullet sponginess”.
  • An amount of ammo for basic weapons is now replenished after a player respawns.
  • Added more special weapon ammo throughout more difficult areas.
  • Added duplicate tutorial laptops to the game to make 100% completion more attainable.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause some enemies in certain areas to spawn prematurely.
  • Increased the speed of switching between certain weapons to make it easier to adapt to enemy armor types.
BALANCE CHANGES
  • Tutorials not collected by players in Paris Streets sections 1 or 2 will now be present in Paris Streets section 3. This will allow players to backtrack from later sections of the game in order to get tutorials that count towards game completion percentage.
  • Added checkpoints to all active Tower mission and Tower Guardian fights. Note that returning to the towers after completing the main missions will not have checkpoints.
  • Players who expend all lives and reset to the latest checkpoint will now find their base weapons refilled to at least 50% of ammo capacity. This will function with all ammo modifier skills and upgrades but does not affect special or heavy weapons.
  • Additional special weapon ammo has been added to all boss and guardian fights.
  • We have doubled the amount of damage done to armored enemies by the non-preferred weapon type. This will result in enemies feeling much less absorptive of damage when the player has the wrong weapon equipped. We still highly encourage players to spend their silver to upgrade a variety of weapon types so as to maximize damage to tough enemies!
  • General Winkler has had his health lowered to be more in line with the difficulty of the Zeppelin level.
  • The Bombdog damage has been slightly lowered.
  • The base Shotgun, Autopistol, and SMG damage output has been increased to bring them in line with other basic weapons.
  • Tower Gate Guardians have had their level lowered in all Districts to better reflect the level of enemies inside the Towers. The Towers are still intended to be played by players level 20 or higher.
  • Added the ability to toggle “iron sights” on/off. This option can be found in the Controls menu.
  • Lowered controller rumble on Xbox One.
  • Added the option to turn off enemy health bars to the Gameplay options. Note that this will not turn off armor barriers or enemy level, so we recommend players have a high degree of familiarity with enemies before turning health bars off.
  • Added more than 20 additional duplicate tutorials to the Districts to allow for easier game completion as well as better coverage for new players.
  • Added a unique icon for Tutorial Computers when player has the correct Secrets Collector upgrade.
  • Lowered Lothar’s healthpoints during the “Penthouse” stage of the boss.
  • Made a variety of changes to Lothar’s accuracy and damage during his final stage.
  • Added an alarm and audio cue for the 4th Reich jet planes during the Lothar fight to give players more of a chance to dodge or shoot down the planes.
  • Reduced the number of missiles during the Lothar flight stage.
BUG FIXES
  • Client players can now explode Host player DKW charges by shooting them.
  • A data tape required to complete the Silent Outpost mission could go missing, preventing completion of the mission. This tape will now appear correctly for all players.
  • Equalized damage modifiers for all weapon classes and upgrades for Host and Client players. Previously a bug could cause one player to do a lot more damage with certain weapon types and upgrades.
  • The “available unlocks” and message could play despite there being active enemies. This will no longer occur.
  • Fixed a variety of timing bugs with completion events that could cause progression not to be saved in certain circumstances.
  • Co-op levers will now work much more reliably when playing solo.
  • Improved sister AI so that she gets out of the way of large enemies more often and improved ability to successfully heal the player when they are downed.

Update 1.0.4 Patch Notes (Scheduled for later this week)
Gameplay
  • Added ability to pause the game in OFFLINE mode only. Although we have tested this feature extensively, if you encounter any issues please let us know by submitting a support ticket to https://help.bethesda.net.
  • Removed the ability to open padlocked doors from the wrong side, as this was causing some issues with mission progression
  • Client players will once again take normal damage from environmental explosions (fire extinguishers, fuel tanks, etc.)
  • Players will now correctly be able to catch friendly and enemy grenades after taking the Grenade God upgrade
  • Client players were having health and ammo fully restored in some circumstances after picking up a heavy weapon
  • Uberhammer projectiles will now explode properly under all conditions
  • Fixed an issue where one player could end up rotated in the wrong direction while interacting with elevator levers
Art and Graphics
  • Improved the animation when viewing your sister opening Shared Life crates (eliminates teleporting)
User Interface
  • The Protohund marker for “Destroy the Protohund” and “Collect the Box” missions will no longer appear on the minimap when the mission is not set to active
  • Opening the Journal while activating fast travel now interrupts fast travel. This corrects a variety of issues with loading and UI
  • Fixed a reticle issue that could cause your weapon crosshair in Wolfenstein: Youngblood to appear when playing the “classic” Wolfstone 3D arcade game in the Paris Catacombs
  • Corrected an issue that could cause “Call for Help” to not be available after using a Shared Life. “Call for Help” should now be available if the player is down but their sister is alive
  • Fixed an issue when performing certain actions while opening the in-game options menu that could cause the camera to become permanently tilted
Audio
  • Fixed a variety of audio issues, including resolving audio dropouts after equipping the flashlight weapon upgrade on the Kugelgewehr
Online Co-op
  • Fixed a network packet issue that could cause session disconnects when too many explosions occurred in co-op, resulting in players getting dropped from their co-op game
  • Resolved crash that could happen with the Client in a co-op game used Crush, then immediately performed a melee attack on the enemy
  • Fixed the error message players would receive if their Steam Privacy settings were set to Friends Only. Note that your Steam profile must be set to Public in order to view Steam friends through the in-game invite menu
Miscellaneous Bug Fixes
  • Enemies will no longer float in midair next to the walkways in Lab X
  • The last used weapon was not being properly equipped when the player dropped a heavy weapon
  • Resolved issue where enemies could become stuck floating during the “Lothar and Juju’s trap” mission
  • Changed “Could Not Write Crash Dump” error message to be more descriptive. Crash Dumps are files that contain information relating to a crash; this message would appear any time a crash occurred—which could occur for different reasons—and may have led to confusion that “Could Not Write Crash Dump” was a specific error. As these files tend to be large (~58mb) Crash Dump writing remains off by default. The new message gives explicit instructions on how to turn on Crash Dump writing should you choose to assist in diagnosing the cause of your crash

Thank you for your support of Wolfenstein: Youngblood. We appreciate your constructive feedback over the past few days since launch. We will continue to monitor these threads for your suggestions, bug reports, and other issues you may be experiencing.

Patch Highlights
  • Crash fixes: This update fixes crash issues for multiple platforms, including crashes for Windows 7 users running at specific resolutions; and crashes caused by attempting specific in-game actions.
  • Audio fixes: Fixed issues causing sounds to suddenly “drop out.”
  • 100% Completion & Achievements: Fixed issues that could prevent players from reaching 100% completion of Wolfenstein: Youngblood. (Finding everything in the game.) This includes players being unable to previously complete the Partisan achievement.
  • Inviting friends: We’ve made it easier for players to invite their friends to games, specifically for players on Steam and using the Buddy Pass.
Crash Fixes
  • Fixed a crash that could occur if the player used Crush in specific areas of Riverside.
  • Fixed an issue causing frequent crashes on Windows 7 machines with high-end video cards. Previously, the game would crash if the player attempted to use the following resolutions:
    • 3440x1440 borderless window
    • 2560x1080 borderless window
    • 2560x1080 fullscreen
  • This occurred primarily with Windows 7 users using GTX 1080 cards but may have affected other users as well.
  • AMD has released new drivers to resolve a crash that could occur on Radeon RX5700 series graphics products. Please update your drivers immediately.
For users experiencing the "Could not write crash dump" error:
“Could not write crash dump” is default messaging given when the game client crashes and could be caused by several reasons. If you are encountering this message, particularly when attempting to start the game, here are some things to look at:
  • Please verify that your PC meets the minimum specifications of the game, found here.
  • Frequently, this error occurs due to old drivers or drivers that did not have a clean installation. (For example, users who upgraded to a video card from a different manufacturer without uninstalling their previous drivers.) Make sure you have the latest drivers, and it is recommended that you perform a clean install using tools such as Display Driver Uninstaller.

If you still experiencing this issue and are using the latest drivers after a clean install with a PC that meets the minimum specs, please contact our support team at https://help.bethesda.net and provide your DXDiag and MSInfo. You can find instructions on how to create those here.

Audio Fixes
  • Fixed an audio dropout issue that could occur when toggling the Kugelgewehr flashlight on and off. This audio dropout would persist until the game was restarted.
  • Fixed an issue that would occasionally cause sound effects to cut out when using the flashlight.
  • Reduced the frequency of an issue that caused a variety of audio issues (volume levels, dropouts, etc.) when killing multiple Nazis rapidly with the ElektroKraftWerk weapon.
  • Rebalanced several VO levels to bring them in line with the rest of the game.
Gameplay Fixes
  • Fixed an issue preventing Client players from picking up heavy weapon ammo from downed enemies if they had the Bigger Guns perk. All players with the Bigger Guns perk will now be able to pick up heavy weapon ammo dropped by enemies.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing Client players to do substantially more damage than higher-level Host players in co-op.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Lothar and Juju’s Trap” mission could become blocked if the player first completed the “Missing Partner” mission as a Client player.
  • Fixed an issue that could allow drones to spawn from drone towers even after players turned them off with the floppy disk code.
Art, Graphics, and User Interface Fixes
  • Fixed an issue that could cause objective markers for the “Destroy the Machines” mission to display in-world and on the minimap when the mission was not active.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing elevator buttons in the Tower 2 landing pad to flicker between displays, resulting in players sometimes choosing the wrong floor despite it appearing correct.
  • Fixed an issue where Lothar was missing teleport animations and visual FX for Client players.
  • Fixed some areas of missing fog that was affecting vistas.
  • Added a notification to warn players of poor network conditions.
Online Co-Op Fixes
  • Steam – Added the ability to use the Buddy Pass from the Escape menu while in-game, rather than having to be on the main menu to invite a Buddy.
  • Steam – Fixed an issue that could prevent Friends of a Host whose Steam profile is set to “Private” from seeing or joining their session.
  • Steam – Added additional notifications when a Steam user attempts to retrieve the friends list when their Steam profile is set to “Private.” Players will now be notified: “Could not retrieve your Steam Friends List. Please check the Privacy settings of your Steam Profile.”
  • Changed “Find Player” to “Find Bethesda.net Player” on the PC BNET dropdown to clarify flow for finding and inviting friends.
Achievements/Trophies and Game Completion Fixes
  • The “Revive” tutorial somehow went missing. We have added the tutorial back into the game and players can now complete the game to 100%.
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing some players from unlocking the “Partisan” achievement despite meeting the criteria.
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing Client players from completing the “Slide ‘n Shoot” challenge.
Miscellaneous Fixes
  • We previously released a hotfix that prevents users from using a 3rd-party application to cheat and add unlimited Silver Coins, Wolfenstein: Youngblood’s in-game earnable currency. This note is intended to clarify this fix.
