Patch Notes #5 - February 15th, 2024

We're thrilled to announce the latest updates and fixes with our newest patch. Your invaluable feedback and unwavering support have been instrumental in shaping these improvements. We can't express our gratitude enough for your dedication to making our game better.

Here's a quick summary of the most requested features from the community: optimizing save files and introducing sorting options in the inventory. Additionally, we're excited to introduce travel events, providing even more depth to your journey through the game world.

The community update #2 is almost ready to roll out! We're just putting the finishing touches on it and getting it ready to add to Steam. Once it's all set, we'll make sure to let you know. Stay tuned! In the update, we'll cover the patch notes in more detail and include a link to the VOD of our latest livestream.

Without further ado, let's dive into what's new in this patch notes:

[h2]Updates[/h2]
  • (Much requested) Optimizing save files and thus greatly reducing the time it takes to save. Each save file is down to 30-ish mb from the original 400 mb. A save file will get slightly larger as a player progresses in the game. This optimization also fixes a bunch of crashes and errors related to a large save file size.
  • (Much requested) Providing sorting options in the inventory: by sund value, by weight, by type.
  • Introducing travel events. These are events that the player can encounter, often as consequences to their previous actions, while traveling on the world map. They can usually be resolved peacefully or through combat.
  • Gaining appreciation comes from fulfilling characters’ wants. This allows players to earn someone’s or a faction’s appreciation in ways other than by following and completing their opportunities.
  • Adding a tutorial to explain that companions decide what they equip, based on their proficiencies and preferences.
  • Displaying the amount of remaining charges a weapon has in the hotbar.
  • Providing more feedback on the reasons why an ability cannot be used on a target.
  • Providing dialogue options to inquire more about key companions.
  • Removing traps from locations that caused issues with faction raids.
  • Showing influence commands even when they are currently not available. The commands will be grayed out in those situations.
  • Placing Connie’s wanted item in a more challenging location. Note: Save files from before this change will have the item still at its original location.
  • Balancing the value of armors.


[h2]Fixes[/h2]
  • Fixed character not moving after a successful Talk To influence command
  • Fixed being unable to use Bayard’s prized item as evidence at a crime scene
  • Fixed Load Saved Game being grayed out in the Game Over screen
  • Fixed crash related to memory corruption due to interactive ingredients
  • Fixed issue where interactive ingredients would not be in their correct state after loading a game
  • Fixed issue where characters’ conditions were incorrect after loading a game
  • Fixed issue where the player would move after clicking on actors in combat
  • Fixed issue where loading a saved game, then exiting back to the main menu and then starting a new game caused many NPCs to not use their proper dialogue and quests to not clear


New Issues:
  • Combat is stuck on NPC's turn after the player attack a pickpocket victim [Will be fixed in the next hotfix # 6]

Patch Notes #4 - February 2nd, 2024

One more patch before we sign off for the weekend!

This one is mostly meant to address feedback we received about controlling companions. Let us know how we did on the Steam forums or Discord.

Updates
  • (Much requested) Improving companion interactions by making it clearer when the player is ordering a companion and showing the Wait icon on the companions
  • (Much requested) Adding subtitles to the opening video
  • (Much requested) Adding Armor and stat bonuses to certain odd wearable items
  • Adding area names to opportunities dialogues and descriptions to make finding characters and items easier
  • Making magical items worth more than the base counterpart


Fixes
  • Fixed Charged Golems not having their immunities
  • Fixed black pixels glitch on foliage

Patch Notes #3 - February 1st, 2024

Updates
  • (Much requested) Updating stats and adding proficiencies to Andrath, Neetha and Myet
  • (Much requested) Improving performance when starting a fight in a township
  • Tuning faction appreciation gains so the option to join and rank up in a faction doesn’t unlock too easily
  • Making alarms not trigger when a guard working in the area steps on the linked pressure plate
  • Displaying Unlock instead of Pick Lock when right-clicking on a door or chest and the player has the corresponding key
  • Moving a guard position at Howling Valley Warehouse so the player doesn’t need to trespass to talk to them
  • Updating gear worn by faction members
  • Making Potion of Lesser Healing a common item instead of an uncommon one
  • Adjusting price of many items


Fixes
  • (Much requested) Fixed issue where Priest Loxy’s and Hermit Olly's opportunity to eliminate monsters can't be resolved
  • (Much requested) Fixed many issues where NPCs would see characters through walls and covers
  • Fixed issue where player could not use the stairs inside the Hermit’s Wood mansion
  • Fixed issue where player could no longer pickpocket after getting caught and failing a dice roll
  • Fixed issue where a companion would refuse an order to pick up an unowned item
  • Fixed issue of incorrect faction appreciation values shown in the Journal
  • Fixed issue of Bane ability also affecting neutral targets
  • Fixed issue where firing a pistol would not consume a charge
  • Fixed issue where the condition icons would disappear if the character got inflicted again with the same condition
  • Fixed issue where the XP earned after each fight would keep doubling
  • Fixed issue where the player’s starting items are duplicated
  • Fixed a crash when renaming a save profile
  • Fixed many crashes related to attacking characters
  • Fixed some placeholder texts
