New ORX Demo out now!

Hi everyone!

We are proud to present a new demo of ORX. This new version of the game contains a tremendous amount of new content as well as some significant gameplay improvements. It's easy to get lost in all of this; so we provide you with a complete list of what's been added or reworked. Let's get started!


— Now orxes have battle cards of their own! They can and will play several cards during the fight, drastically changing the situation on the battlefield. There are some cards with minor effects, but many of those are ridiculously strong and are even able to change the behavior and the attack patterns of orxes.




— We've added a lot of really cool artifacts with powerful effects to the game. The goal is to make the player experience much more diverse than before.



— We've completely reworked the Corruption system and the process of getting new cards in general. Now it's more straightforward and intuitive: you can always understand what you get and why, and you also have more control over this process.



— The campaign balance has been reworked as well. Our aim was to give players relevant options to choose from at every step of the game. Now the reward system feels more organic and is much easier to understand than before.



— We've added a lot of new cards to the game — now you have a lot more options of what to build and upgrade.



— The demo features a new version of the UI — with a new mini-map and Corruption indicators. We’ve worked really hard to improve the clarity and readability of the interface.




— We've implemented a new progression system: now you get special SPARKS points at the end of each battle. You can spend those to unlock new cards in the Encyclopedia, which you could use in your next run. This feature is expected to improve replayability greatly.



— This demo also features the new cards design — we've improved the text descriptions and added new symbols, showing the health, attack, and range on warriors and buildings cards. Now you can always get an idea of what this particular card does and what it is capable of from just a quick glance.



— Bosses are finally here! There will be four different bosses waiting for you at the end of each act of the campaign. In this demo, you will meet just one of them, but he'll make sure that you won't forget this encounter.



— The AI of standard orxes is vastly improved in this build. They are much smarter than ever before, and it's much easier for us to control them: this allows us to spawn vast crowds of enemies with ease. So brace yourself!



— We've reworked the random level generation system — now we can say that it's really smart and versatile. And we've also added a lot of new environment tiles such as lakes, mountains, and forests.

The World of ORX — A Dive Into Lore: Part 2

Hi! In our last update, we’ve promised to conclude our brief overview of the ORX world history, and now we are doing exactly that!

Quick note: this is part 2 of our Lore devlog — make sure to check the first part out, cause otherwise, this one won’t make much sense to you. With that out of the way, let’s begin!!

As you remember, The Book people have received from the mysterious Gray Traveler was able to make miracles and create anything its owner could think of out of thin air.



But nobody knew that this Book contained an ominous secret: it took something away from you with each gift it gave. With the creation of each new majestic castle or magical device, the hearts of the Book's users became darker and their thoughts more insidious.

At last, the inevitable happened - a full-scale war broke out. The once united people divided into four rival factions sought to get the Book for themselves.



Many achievements of the old civilization perished in the fire of conflict. We know almost nothing about this dark age - just that nine long and bloody wars took place during this time.

The world's fate was supposed to be decided in the last Tenth War, which promised to be even more brutal than the previous ones. But all of the rivaling factions were forced to abandon their military plans when a new threat appeared — the orx themselves! Those were mysterious ferocious creatures, seemingly ideal war machines, driven only by the desire to kill and destroy. All the infighting between the opposing factions came to a close in the face of this existential threat.



You take upon the role of the ruler of one of these four factions. The magical Book is in your possession now, so you can build new castles and other defenses in a matter of seconds. Would that be enough to give you an edge against endless hordes of orx? One way or the other, now you have to protect the valley from those merciless creatures at any cost. Who knows, maybe you will be able to unravel the mystery of their origins along the way — but only if you manage to survive their onslaught. Do you have what it takes to be the savior of your people?



We know what you really want — to finally dive deep into the world of ORX and defeat the green-skinned beasts once and for all. We will keep working as hard (and fast) as we possibly can, to finally deliver you the full game. ORX: How it All Began? A Dive into the Lore: Part 1

Hi everyone!

Since our team is now working on fleshing out different factions within the game, we've decided that it would be a great moment to talk a bit about ORX lore and give you an idea of what's actually happening in the game.

Some of you are probably wondering: who are these people? Why do those castles appear out of thin air right in front of the attackers? And what's the deal with Orx themselves? So, today we will answer all of these questions. Well, just a few of those actually. It's quite complicated, you'll see!



ORX gameplay consists of endless battles with, well, Orx. You could assume that this world has always been like this and that killing Orx is the only thing people do here. But it's not that simple.



Today the valley in which ORX takes place is torn by perpetual war. But many centuries ago, life here wasn't so dangerous or dramatic. People just enjoyed their lives, cultivated the land, and did not even think about war (or about building castles and roads at an insane speed).


In general, we know very little about those times — the people of the valley didn't have a written language and were not concerned about preserving their history.



According to the legend, everything changed when the mysterious 'Gray traveler' gave people the magical Book.



It appeared to be a wonderful gift at first - the Book was able to shape the physical world according to the desires of its owner. You just had to think about what you wanted to create - and it appeared before your eyes immediately.



With this power, people of the valley managed to build an impressive civilization - and who wouldn't, with the help of such a unique artifact! But the golden age didn't last for long…



In the next lore update, we will conclude this tragic tale and reveal how this once united and prosperous land ended up like this: torn apart and ravaged by perpetual war. Stick with us for part 2!

Demo Update - 7 more languages!

Hey everyone!

ORX got a new demo - just in time for PAX East!

Hello, peeps!
For the last several months we’ve been working real hard to make ORX even more fun and addictive! And not to keep all the fun to ourselves we’ve prepared a little gift for everyone interested in ORX — Just in time for PAX East Online we’ve prepared for you a Brand New Demo!
What’s new? Oh, we’re glad you asked!



Campaign mode with different missions, shops and rewards. By completing the missions or using the shops the King raises the Corruption level in the Kingdom.
Higher Corruption level makes orx stronger, but also raises the quality of the rewards.



Artefacts which can be picked up at certain points of your journey. They offer great buffs which last for the duration of the whole Campaign. However, each one raises the Corruption level — so think twice before grabbing one from the shop!



Enchanted Vaults which offer great rewards — add a new card to your hand, enchant or upgrade it, remove or duplicate one of your cards. To activate the Vault you need to develop one of tiles adjacent to it and then complete a small quest.



New cards and upgrades for you to fortify the Kingdom with! Like towers and development buildings which need to be placed on existing castles and roads. Or completely new castle pieces and units which — path to victory is in your hands!



New missions in new biomes which have unique weather conditions affecting both you and orx. Speaking of orx — quite a number of new tribes joined the horde in their attempt to destroy the Kingdom!



Revamped Interface — complete with new indicators and visuals. Because the King needs to see everything about his Kingdom just by taking a good glance at the map!



Card Tiers which are advanced by upgrading the cards. They massively improve the bonuses provided by the card, but also raise its cost. Keep an eye on your treasury!



The Curses — super cards which are periodically shuffled into your hand during the orx’s attack. Don’t worry, they’re totally not sneaky about this and will let you know about their appearance and what they think about your Kingdom!

And last, but not least — new music, new loading screen and improved visuals!

We know what you really want — to finally dive deep into the world of ORX and defeat the green-skinned beasts once and for all.
