DevBlog 22: New Aircraft Inbound

Greetings Commanders,
Our latest batch of exciting updates includes three more aircraft to help you refine your aerial strategy, and a new payload map adding further options for your custom games.

You now have extra aerial firepower at your disposal with three additional aircraft for your mid-late game strategies. Here's the intel on how they'll fit into your roster.

Broadsword (Global Risk): A gunship that can launch effective attacks against stationary targets. When upgraded Broadsword gets a temporary speed boost for hit-and-run attacks.

Locust (Black List): An unmanned drone that seeks aerial targets, Locust self-destructs on impact. It's capable of bringing down groups of heavy aircraft within explosion radius.

Griffin (New Horizon): A light aircraft specializing in air-to-air combat, Griffin's attacks deal high damage to a single target but suffer from a low rate of fire. Upgraded, Griffin's weapon range increases.

There's a new map area that will bring extra volatility to your custom games and skirmishes in Payload mode. In Refinery, players fight to secure each payload amongst the hazards of a fuel refinery — using the strategic high ground is key in this explosive environment.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

The rank and file of your foot soldiers are being bolstered with these worthy additions to your early game. All are unlocked with Tier 2 barracks. Experiment with these in your roster and be ready to adapt your strategies.

The Mamba (Black List): Assault infantry equipped with shotguns that do extra damage against enemy infantry. When upgraded with Ghost kit technology, they can sneak into attack range.

The Sniper (Global Risk): Your long range specialist with excellent vision. Attacks cause extra damage to enemy infantry, but reduced damage against shields. Upgraded, they have a chance to critically hit their target.

The Satyr (New Horizon): A lightly armed multi-purpose support unit that can project a protective barrier onto allies. Can be upgraded to modify the rate of fire of any target, friend or foe.

Watching replays is vital for perfecting your strategies and helping others to learn to be better commanders. That’s why we are happy to be bringing this much requested feature and are looking forward to seeing you trading replays and analyzing your gameplay. This will also be a useful tool for future tournaments.

We want these to be shareable. Right now these replay files are tied to your Steam ID, and so we are still working towards decoupling this so you can trade replay files between friends.

For all the magpie commanders out there, we’re implementing Steam achievements. Get your shiny badges and collect the achievements that proudly prove you to be a worthy commander. Here’s some examples:
“Are you classified as human?” - Completed the Campaign on Hard Difficulty

“All for one and one for all” - Completed all Coop missions on Expert Difficulty

“Safety in numbers” - Win a Multiplayer game with infantry only

“Coordinated demolition” - In a Multiplayer game, destroy three enemy Core Bases within 30 seconds of each other

There'll be many more for you to earn and we look forward to seeing you make a name for yourself on the battlefield.

All campaign missions now have a checkpoint system that saves your progress at key moments during a campaign mission. Nowwhen faced with defeat, you don't need to start the mission from scratch.

  • The resource collection rate has been standardized for all maps. Previously, your resource collection rate wasn't the same as your opponents. We made sure that if you have X bases you get the same amount of minerals/gas collected over time, independently of where these X bases are located on the map.
  • The survey form has been removed and won't open every time you close the game. We appreciate this was annoying for some, but please do keep sending us your feedback.
  • Performance & stability improvements. Please let us know if you continue to experience problems.
  • The production error messages are no longer truncating/overlapping the units' tooltips.
  • Increased workers carry capacity from 7 to 8 minerals per trip.
  • Increased starting population capacity in standard mode from 8 to 10.

  • The Rocket Trooper projectile now deals aoe damage.
  • Reduced Black List barracks HP from 1500 to 1250.
  • Reduced Jackal cost from 100 to 75 minerals.
  • Reduced the Chameleon’s debuff efficiency from 75% to 25% of the enemy unit attack power.
  • Increased the Crocodile’s weapon range from 30 to 40 so that they now outrange turrets and serve their role better.
  • The Prion EMP rocket has been removed. The conic blast area of effect angle and length has been reduced by 20%.
  • Reduced the Condor’s HP from 1000 to 800. Its reload time has been increased from 3 seconds to 4.

  • Increased the Vampire’s attack animation by 50%, making it a viable early game unit again.
  • Increased the Hyperion damage per hit from 30 to 40.

DevBlog 19: Replays & Saves Incoming

Greetings Commanders,
We are pleased to see the positive response to our last patch. Removing the store and unlocking all units for your roster made players especially happy :) We’ll continue to monitor your feedback and use it to shape our monthly updates.
Now, let’s take a look at a few of the features we have planned for our:

It’ll have something for both competitive RTS veterans and the more relaxed RTS player.

We recently witnessed high level commanders taking to the battlefields of Crossfire: Legion in our first major tournament with ESL. This was a perfect opportunity to gather data and feedback on the competitive side of our game. Those players taking part certainly delivered, you can see for yourself here in the European finals:

Watching replays we understand is vital for perfecting your strategies and helping others to learn to be better commanders. That’s why we are happy to be bringing this much requested feature and are looking forward to seeing you trading replays and analyzing your gameplay.

For those who like to play single player RTS games at their own pace, the game will save from check points at key moments during a campaign mission. Now if you get wiped you don't need to start the mission from scratch.

DevBlog 18: Major Update 1.1

Greetings Commanders,

We’ve just gone live with our first community-led update. Once again a massive thank you for all your feedback. We continue to be excited to be working on this game with you foremost in our minds. Firstly:

The “store” section in-game worried players because it led some to wonder if we’d later introduce gameplay affecting microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics. While this was never the intention, we did think a soft-currency tied player progression system would work well. We acknowleadge that the way this was presented was fairly confusing and so we are happy to remove it while we review better progression systems.

Ultimately, we don’t want anything to stand between you and enjoying the classic RTS gameplay the game has to offer!

In detail, this means:
  • Removing all unit “purchasing”
  • All current, and future, units will be available immediately
  • Operations will be removed
  • We’ll be working on a new progression system
  • DLCs still planned for the future

We’ve seen many enjoying the 1st Act of our Campaign, so here’s ACT II.
Battle rages on with the next 4 missions of our immersive character-driven camapaign. Tensions escalate and the stakes rise as our factions complete to fulfill their ideologies amongst all the turmoil of new locations and story beats. Continue to immerse yourself in the expansive world and lore of the Crossfire: Legion universe.

If intense micro-management isn’t your thing, we have a new macro-management game mode for you. Battlelines allows for 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 matches with a focus on your army composition rather than the micromanaging of units. This is a macro-focused game mode where you place your units in formation within the designated area and watch them spawn in waves that fight automatically towards the other team's HQ.

Like to keep your eye on the prize? We’ve a new Payload map for you called “Badlands”
You fight to secure each payload amongst the thick foliage and tricky terrain of the jungle. There are numerous lanes of narrow attack that allow you to focus your forces and set ambushes.

We have answered the calls for allowing hotkey remapping so you can more efficiently command. This feature will still grow and its options will become more detailed in future.

  • Leaving the game will result in an automatic loss and a win for your opponent.
  • Presets configurations now are saving properly.
  • Ghost core will no longer prevent building construction on the same spot it was destroyed.
  • Workers can't deny building HQs anymore as they spawn with more life. Construction time remains unchanged.
  • Games should now end properly when Surrender/Abandon options are used.
  • Turrets building now follows the same placement rules as in Payload mode.

  • Mineral patches are now depleting after 15000 resources collected.
  • Workers now are carrying 7 minerals down from 10, and 5 gas down from 6.
  • The Cavalier and Scepter units now have the stealth detection ability.
  • Ghost Core has been revamped : If the core is under attack, the healing is deactivated. The initial cooldown of Ghost Core is 4 minutes.
  • Ghost Nation now has a global cooldown.

On top of all that, we’ve improved general performance and stability. So if you’ve had trouble playing the game in the past, please try it again and let us know how you get on.

We have our 1st ESL champions! Congratulation and enjoy your prize money and gifts:

Europe winner: FTWCheese
Americas winner: LaFaf
Asia winner: Fuyue

An overview of the results can be found here: https://play.eslgaming.com/crossfire-legion
