Sandrock Dev Update March to mid-April

Howdy, Sandrockers,


We added a lot of new things into Sandrock!

The key updates we’ve done in the past couple of weeks:

Farming functions

New fish can be caught when in sandfishing

New facial texture optimization

Added the Day of Memories

Annnnnd, an old friend from Portia visits Sandrock, you'll find out by yourselves!ːsteammockingː

We've been preparing for the EA launch for a long time, so once the rating certification is issued, we can press the button and boom! Sandrock will then be purchasable and playable on Steam Early Access.

For now, beta players can play the update’s content a bit ahead of time, and we may ask for their feedback on the experience. Their help will be a key part of our development and improve Sandrock to be even better.

However, because of the many changes in this update, existing save files will probably become unusable after the update. Sorry about that!

In other news, we’re preparing another livestream at the end of this month to show the resource management in Sandrock. More details on that later!

Adjusted the attack vibration caused by NPC attacks. Now it will only trigger when you are close to the NPC fighting position
Adjusted the Whack-a-mole minigame and added more special “rats”, auxiliary aiming function, and hitting special effects, etc.

Or to put it differently, we never actually lost the name, and the name change we made yesterday was an April fools’ prank.

We can no longer use the name Sandrock

[h2]Dear Portia and Sandrock fans,[/h2]

Due to some issues regarding the ownership of the name Sandrock, we are now happy to announce that My Time at Sandrock, will from now on be called “My Time at Rocksand.”

Not long ago we discovered that the name Sandrock is already owned and copyrighted in the EU. We have asked the owner of the name for the rights to use it, but we have failed to reach an agreement. Since we can no longer use Sandrock in the EU, we have decided to change the name worldwide to be consistent and to avoid confusion.

The dispute started a few weeks ago with the Italian artist Alessandro Ulcigrai, also known as “Sandrock” who laid claim to the name back in 2006. He said the name is essential to his brand identity and that he has put a lot of work and effort into his art.

As game designers we fully understand the value of protecting your art and we respect Alessandro’s decision to keep the name.

We hope that you, our beloved players will respect this as well and we are looking forward to you all joining together with our upcoming game “My Time at Rocksand.”

My Time at Sandrock Livestream will be in 10 minutes!

My Time at Sandrock combat-focused Livestream has finally here, with 10 minutes to go!

It'll cover My Time at Sandrock's improved combat system, including experimental features that aren't even in the beta yet. The stream will once again be hosted on Youtube, Twitch, and Steam

Sandrock now features multiple new weapon options, including more ranged weapon types. We have also implemented an exciting more hands-on aiming mechanic for guns, rather than the automatic aiming system featured in Portia.
