Destiny 2 News

In the weeks before The Witch Queen, Destiny 2 seems to be receiving all the right changes

If you are a steadfast fan of Destiny 2, you may have seen the range of updates included in the This Week at Bungie blog. This is the latest wave of information in a long string of teases and updates, and much like many of the info dumps of the past, it’s damn exciting. It really seems like the excitement around The Witch Queen grows with each post.

For those who haven’t read it yet, the weekly update brought news of a totally reworked gunsmith - an aspect of the game I had totally disregarded from my mind as a component in need of refinement. Sure it means there’s a mad dash to spend all our gunsmith materials, but that’s a chore well worth the rework.

Then there’s the changes to blue engrams. While levelling, these act as occasional upgrades that allow you to soar through the power levels as you experience new content, but soon become inventory filler once you hit the end game.

This Week At Bungie – 1/20/2022

This week at Bungie, we’re sweeping up some blues.

Time’s been flying by, hasn’t it? Including the article you’re reading today, just five TWABs stand between you and The Witch Queen. We don’t (yet) have the technology to enter a hyper-sleep that can bridge these gaps, but we do have the power to set some expectations on topics we’ll be covering between now and then.

This week, we’ll be talking about Power, blue drops, Gunsmith reputation, some shifts in Exotic sources, and more. Over the next few TWABs, we’ll be talking Vanguard rep, Gambit reworks, weapon crafting, and Void 3.0... but not necessarily in that order. Don’t forget the patch note previews and additional weapon tuning details. It’ll be a fun time, and hopefully we’ll give you some things to chew on each week. We may even have a trailer or two to share with you before launch. If you haven’t been on social media in the last week, you might have missed some bite-sized snippets of story...

So, let’s kick things off with Power, and where your Guardian will stand when it’s time to embark on The Witch Queen’s campaign.

This Week At Bungie – 01/13/2022

This week at Bungie, we are pondering our Orbs … of Power!

We’re back, baby! TWAB is alive and well and we’re excited for what’s next with the upcoming launch of The Witch Queen. Just one more month to go before we learn more about Savathûn’s influence and what that means for Guardians and our beloved Osiris, in addition to some nifty additions to gameplay such as crafting and pokey-pokey Glaive goodness. While we do want to share some news with our players, we also want to keep some secrets because there are a few unique surprises on the way that we want you to experience for yourselves.

Also, can we just take a moment to appreciate the latest trailer for The Witch Queen that showcased Savathûn’s Throne World? Because I don’t know about you, but I’m still screaming in excitement and the entire team here at Bungie can’t wait to see your reactions to what’s next. It’s going to be a wild ride, so buckle that metaphorical seatbelt, friends.

Before you dive into the latest trailer below, we did want to offer a small warning to players: spoilers are coming. Be aware that the weeks leading up to the launch of The Witch Queen will include information that those averse to spoilers might want to avoid. Just be careful out there, Guardians!

Huge changes coming to Destiny 2's masterwork armor and weapons

s an avid reader of the This Week at Bungie blog, I have long since made my peace with the way Destiny 2 balance changes tend to be a mixture of 'giveth' and 'confusingly taketh away'. Today's entry, which focuses on changes to how masterwork armor and weapons function, is a perfect example of the form. On the one hand we're getting some much-requested quality of life stuff. On the other it's going to become more fiddly to generate Orbs of Light...

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen has just gotten a rad new trailer

We’ve got a brand new trailer for Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion The Witch Queen! This time around, we’re taken through sly Savathun’s throne world, the humongous swamp she calls home and has filled with traps and all her secrets. As Guardians, it looks as though we’ll be braving the unknown to discover everything she’s hiding, fighting through her minions as we go.

This trailer is of course paired with voiceover from Savathun herself, who taunts us with her power over her domain. To give her credit, she does try to convince us to turn around and go back home, which is a decent upgrade over the usually reception we get!

If we turn down that tempting offer, we can explore what seems to be a varied cornucopia of danger. We see of course the swampy outskirts of Savathun’s world, as well as the regal structures that make up what we can only assume to be the centre of her crib. Add to that the dark and dank caves we’ve grown to expect from the hive, and it looks like we’ve got quite the sightseeing tour ahead of us.
