This Week at Bungie - 12/15/2022

This week at Bungie, we celebrate lots of stuff! The Dawning! New partnerships! A year that is about to end and a new one that’s about to begin! Also, activities that are coming very soon! And I'm going to celebrate that this is my first time writing a TWAB. ¡Hola, mundo! (Hello, World!).
This is also the last TWAB until next year. That sounds like a long time, but worry not, we'll be back with tons of new topics to tackle starting on January 12. We will use this time off to rest, so we recommend you try and do that, too!

But for now, let's focus on the present. Here's a brief summary of what we're talking about today:

• Did you watch that amazing TGA trailer we dropped?
• The Dawning is here! Eva Levante is back in the Tower with cookies and gifts.
• Celebrate your Moments of Triumph.
• Saladin and his Iron Banner are coming back in early January with new rewards.
• We will talk a bit about secrets.
• We have the winners of our Ubisoft partnership community contest!
• You chose your favorite Arbalest ornament.
• We look back to a few highlights of 2022.
• And last, we say goodbye to a member of the team.

Let's get on with it by checking out the full TWAB here.

Destiny 2 Dawning ingredients: How to bake cookies and farm essence

The Destiny 2 Dawning event is here and space granny is back forcing us to make cookies with the flesh of our enemies—Merry Christmas! There are festive weapons to grab, including that fancy stasis sword Zephyr that can slow enemies on strike with its Cold Steel perk. And good news for those that did The Dawning last year, too: there's only one new cookie you have to bake...

PSA: Don't play Destiny 2's new Dawning event without equipping this item first

Tis the season to be grinding, guardians. Today kicks off the annual Dawning event in Destiny 2, which means cookies to bake, gifts to receive, and most crucially updated perk rolls on a suite of winter-themed weapons to receive. But wait, before you begin, please take this word of advice from Santa Clarksmas. Go into your collections tab and check whether you previously unlocked the specific Dawning ship and sparrow listed below. Both of these confer actual in-game benefits during the event, which will be active from Dec 13 to Jan 3...

Living in a Winter Fun-derland

Remember to find some time between heists to relax with friends and share a cookie... or three. Head to the Tower and bid a season’s greeting to Eva Levante. She’s waiting near her Holiday Oven with warm wishes and the perfect recipe for Dawning Spirit: delicious cookies, and twinkling rewards.

Stay Frosty

The time has finally come to reveal what was in that Pulse Rifle shaped box. Perfect for Guardians who love gifts that keep on giving.

Ornament Party

Can't find that incredible Pruina Luster ornament set in any of the stores? We have it on good authority that Tess still has a few in stock.

Have a Ball

It sure would be a shame if this Stasis infused snowball ended up on a calamitous collision course with that cookie you're about to consume.

Event Card

Event Challenges, a new Seal, and a bunch of earnable Dawning rewards! Play for free or upgrade your card to start hitting the slopes and riding through the snow on the coolest (literally) Sparrow of the Season. Unwrap your Event Card in the Quests tab in game.

Showstopping Seal

Know any sci-fi fans who are handy with an oven? Does that sound like you? Complete the Star Baker Seal and not only will you unlock the Star Baker title; you’ll also earn a new collectible medallion pin through Bungie Rewards. There are no rules against buying gifts for yourself.

Trying to play Destiny 2 without the API this weekend was a trip to the Dark Ages

Last Friday, shortly after the launch of Destiny 2's new dungeon, players began being booted. It didn't matter what activity you were in, even social spaces weren't safe: You could barely break into a sprint before succumbing to one of the network errors that Bungie has given evocative names like 'CALABRESE' and 'WEASEL'...
