[EXPERIMENTAL] Early Access Beta Branch Updated

Work on the new island progresses and we felt it was time we shared some of that work on our Experimental Branch.


[h2]Spoilers Ahead[/h2]
For you who have decided to wait until the new island hits the main branch; be aware that the changelist may contain minor spoilers.



[h3]Changes[/h3]
  • We have streamlined the flow of the island to better teach players about the new mechanics introduced there
  • Art and effects have been polished
  • Puzzles have been redesigned based on feedback
  • Various bug fixes and tweaks


Please note that some bugs you've reported to us this far may still be present. We have our eyes on them and they should be squashed one by one the closer we get to the main branch release though, so do not fret! :)

It’s Time To Leave The Nest

Hello fellow gardeners!

Up until now home island has been the only place to explore in the world of Garden of the Sea and it will always be the center of your stay, but soon a new silhouette will appear on the horizon and the time has come to look beyond our nests and explore the sea.

It’s time to finally share what we’ve been working on lately: the next content drop includes a whole new island!



[h2]Welcome to an island filled with secrets[/h2]

A mystical island covered with hot springs and a special invasive breed of moss that will give some extra hurdles for you to overcome in order to grow crops. You’ll also encounter some new plant varieties and other new secrets to uncover. Legends say this island is not quite what it seems, so make sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled as you survey its shores.

Will you figure out the secret hidden at the heart of the island or will you simply use the newfound world to harvest new materials? The choice is yours.



[h2]New features and items[/h2]

Just like last time we’re also dropping a bunch of new features and items along with this update. Among these additions you will find the water pump, the trash can and a whole new (and rather secret) way to travel.

[h2]Embracing the “Way Too Early Access”[/h2]

With this update we are diving even deeper into the “way too” of our Early Access launch. There may be a few more noticeable kinks here and there as we’re adding all the new features as they are being built and at times with little to no polish. This process is awesome for gathering valuable feedback that will actually make an impact to the final game, but perhaps not as awesome for stability and overall feel of quality.

The first iteration is going live on the experimental branch today for you who want to get that extra early look so if you do switch over to the experimental branch to test it out we’d love to hear your feedback.

However; experimental branch or not, we’re always interested in hearing what you think about our games. We read every comment here on the Steam forums and we’re active every single day on our Discord server so feel free to pop in and say hello: Join the Neat Corp Discord server.

Bugfix Patch

Thank you everyone who has been playing the latest version of Garden of the Sea, and especially those of you who have helped us by reporting bugs and given us feedback in our discord channel! A new patch is now out with a few important fixes:

[h3]Patch Notes[/h3]
  • Tools can now always be grabbed from the tool rack, even if you've lost them at sea.
  • If you upgraded your house but got the old version of the house when loading your save game, you will now get the correct house version.
  • The snowman can no longer push objects around when you hold him.






Winter has arrived in Garden of the Sea

[h3]Hello and merry yule tidings, fellow gardeners![/h3]

No matter how you celebrate this time of year we hope you'll be able to enjoy it further as the winter season returns to Garden of the Sea.

Out with the orange and in with the white! We hope you'll enjoy this small update as we continue our work on our next big content drop (no spoilers, but we're sure you'll love this one)!

Surprise a puffkin with a snowball fight or just relax for a while as you sit down for a chill fishing session in the frosty white grass. Oh, and don't worry: your plants are more than capable to survive the cool winds of winter, so you can keep on gardening as usual.





[h3]Vive Cosmos teleportation issues fixed[/h3]

With this update we also bring good news for you Vive Cosmos users out there: we've nailed down the issues regarding the Vive Cosmos not working correctly in-game and you should now be able to successfully use the glove teleport feature. Please accept our sincere thanks for your patience regarding this!

Merchant Update Bugfixes

We would like to give a big thanks to everyone who has been playing the latest update to Garden of the Sea which added the Merchant and Trading system, an in-game Camera, several new decor items, recipes, house upgrades, and smooth locomotion among other features. We've been listening to your feedback, and really appreciate the time you take to report bugs or issues you run into - it makes our bugfixing efforts much more effective! Here is a list of bugfixes in this update:

  • Fixed bug that could cause the player's boat to end up in the middle of an island
  • Fixed bug that caused some items (especially curtains) to fall through the ground
  • Fixed missing pattern on one of the curtains
  • Fixed post-it note that would disappear in the inventory
  • Fixed outline on the photos taken by the camera
  • Fixed some berries that had weird offsets in the inventory
  • Fixed bug that would cause the game to freeze if the player tried to bring something with them from the main menu into the game
  • Fixed some bugs related to upgrading the house
  • Fixed bug that caused the game to not automatically save on quit
  • The quest for unlocking the bridge to the bamboo island will now disappear after you've completed it
  • Polaroid photos are no longer broken after you load a save
  • The mailbox flag now has a grabbable outline
  • Fixed issues with plants getting stuck the the air when putting them in your inventory
