After over 4 years of development and two years in Early Access, we’re finally here - Rebel Inc: Escalation 1.0 is out! Thank you so much to the Rebel Inc: Escalation community for helping along the way by sharing feedback and suggestions on the steam forums and Discord. Truly, we could not have done this without you!

Looking Back

The last two years in Early Access have been quite a ride! In that time, we’ve added a steady stream of massive free updates to the game including…
Campaign Mode
This enormous addition completely changed the Rebel Inc: Escalation experience, allowing the community to play a sequence of connected games over several Regions. It also introduced a huge number of Map Features, Player and Insurgent Perks, bringing more variation to the game.
New Maps
Three new regions were added, accompanied by new mechanics to mix up gameplay. The Infamous Black Caves region introduced Caves to the game, whilst the Azure Dam tasked players with defending a convoy from an insurgent threat. Finally Opium Trail introduced opium farms and the Initiatives to combat them.
Challenge Mode
Weekly Challenges were added to the game, featuring preset combinations of Region, Governor, Advisors, Map Features, Player and Insurgent Tactics as well as starting control. Two new Challenges are released every Wednesday in both standard and Brutal difficulties. Challenges are the same for the whole community, allowing players to compete for the number 1 spot!
Vs Multiplayer - Control the Insurgents
Vs Multiplayer lets players take control of the Insurgency in their opponent’s Region to try and topple their government, while still trying to stabilise their own! A whole suite of new Initiatives and Active abilities were introduced such as Ambushes and Garrison Sabotage. Vs Mode also features dynamically scaling difficulty, ensuring that players of different skill levels can have a good, challenging game.
Co-Op Multiplayer
Co-Op Multiplayer allowed two players to work together to simultaneously stabilise two separate Regions. Players share Reputation and need to work together to succeed - sending each other resources and soldiers to achieve their goals. Players are also able to purchase a series of specially designed new Initiatives as well as embark on a Co-Op Campaign with their partner.
New Governors
Two new governors were added, each radically shaking up gameplay. The Development Director focusses on prioritising zones for development, while fan favourite, the Tank Commander focussed on crushing their opponents with big heavy tanks!
Scenario Creator
The much requested Scenario Creator gave the community a voice, letting players dive into the nuts and bolts of the game to build their own Scenarios. Along with this came a group of new structures like Oil Derricks, Tunnels and Rogue Outposts, allowing hugely varied gameplay opportunities.
Custom Scenarios
Along with the Scenario Creator, this update really gave the community the chance to play Rebel Inc: Escalation in fresh new ways - new scenarios are going up to the Steam Workshop every day!
Speed Run
Speedrunners in our community rejoiced as they were finally able to prove who was quickest on each Region, once and for all.
Stats & Progress
This special treat for the statheads in our community (you know who you are!) let players dive into their history to shine a light on how they play.
And the Rest...
Of course along with our major updates, we were always working to improve the game in myriad other ways including adding an entirely new difficulty, updating artwork, localisation improvements, balance tweaks, quality of life enhancements and hundreds (and hundreds) of bug fixes.
What’s Next?
This isn't the end of the road for Rebel Inc: Escalation! We’ll be continuing to update the game in the future. Got an idea for what you’d like to see? Let us know in our Discord or on the Steam forums.

We’re thrilled to be moving on to the next chapter for Rebel Inc. Thank you so much to each and everyone one of you for supporting us on the way.
