Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty features AI used to replicate a deceased actor’s voice

The Polish language version of Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion features a recreation of a deceased actor’s voice made using AI technology.

As reported by Bloomberg, the game’s developer and publisher CD Projekt has revealed that it used artificial intelligence to help create new lines for ripperdoc Viktor Vektor. The Polish-speaking iteration of the character was portrayed by VA Miłogost Reczek, but then passed away in 2021, leaving the developer with decisions to make regarding how it’d approach Vektor’s part in Phantom Liberty.

Rather than simply having someone else take on the role of V’s cyberware-tinkering friend in the DLC, which would possibly have led to a rerecording of the character’s base game dialogue, CD Projekt instead opted to use voice-cloning software called Respeecher to modify a new actor’s lines, with the aim of having them sound like Reczek.

Cyberpunk 2077’s misbehaving passive skill effects can now be fixed with a mod

After a number of players began to notice that some of Cyberpunk 2077’s passive skill effects weren't working as intended for them in saves made following the arrival of the game’s 2.01 patch, a modder has stepped up to rectify the issue.

As we previously reported, a number of the minor buffs bequeathed by progressing up the ranks of skills like Headhunter and Shinobi aren’t kicking into action as they should in saves made in the latest version of the game. Naturally, Night City’s mercs, many of whom have recently returned to delve into the Phantom Liberty expansion or start a fresh playthrough of the base game now that its 2.0 update has been deployed, haven’t been too happy about this development.

While there’s a good chance CD Projekt Red is already working on a fix for the issue, especially given how many people have taken to social media to post about it, a modder has released a fix that you can grab right now if you’re not in the mood to wait.

Cyberpunk 2077’s must-have HD rework mod now works with Phantom Liberty following a massive 2.0 update

Cyberpunk 2077 received its massive 2.0 update and had the Phantom Liberty expansion added to it late last month, and now one of the game’s must-have mods has gotten a revamp to match.

In good news for all of the folks who’ve been flocking back to Night City in droves to check out all of the changes and delve into Dogtown, modder HalkHogan has now released what they’re calling the ‘Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project 2.0’. Rather than being released as a fresh work, this is a pretty hefty update to their original HD reworked project for Cyberpunk, which arrived back in March, meaning you can grab it simply by downloading the latest version of that mod.

The central aim of the mod is to make the game look just that little bit more gorgeous by reworking its original textures to improve their quality, while preserving Cyberpunk’s vanilla art style and avoiding tanking your PC’s performance.

Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.01 patch looks to have broken some passive skill effects

Given that Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 update totally revamped its perk trees, offering players the chance to comprehensively re-build the skill-sets of their futuristic mercenaries, plenty of those who’ve headed back to Night City to play the Phantom Liberty expansion have done just that.

Unfortunately, though, it looks as though some of the passive effects dished out by certain skills aren’t working as intended in saves made after installing the game’s 2.01 patch.

As spotted and investigated pretty thoroughly by someone over on the Cyberpunk subreddit, certain handy bonuses that can give those who’ve specced into them a slight edge in combat don’t seem to be working in saves that use the latest version of Cyberpunk.
