Hunt a "bone devil" with acid spew in Neverwinter: Avernus's next update

Our first look at what's to come in Neverwinter: Avernus - The Redeemed Citadel's Milestone III is here. The server-wide push to help Zariel restore the Citadel has put Milestone II behind us, and developer Cryptic Studios has now lifted the veil on the campaign's third content drop. Alongside a new leaderboard goal, Heroic Encounter, and various in-game goodies to grab, there's a devilishly tricky three-star hunt to tackle and handy fast-travel feature on the way.

The Redeemed Citadel's third Milestone unlocks a new chamber called the Portal Room. As its name implies, this chamber holds a series of arcane portals that'll make travelling the online RPG game's areas far easier, as senior game designer Doug 'Asterdahl' Miller tells us in an exclusive interview. "That's going to allow players to travel to the world map from the Redeemed Citadel," he says.

"Currently, they'd have to use a VIP signpost or run all the way out to the entrance of the entire zone. And they'll also be able to get directly to the Redeemed Citadel from the world map as well, which is probably a much bigger deal. So you don't have to go to the entrance of Avernus and drive across the whole zone to get to the Redeemed Citadel anymore."

Neverwinter: Infernal Descent Now Live!

Highlights

New Storyline: Infernal Descent

The Vallenhas family has many secrets, some of which are unknown even to the heirs of its estate. Help them, and not only will you learn of their hidden past, but be plunged into the consequences of decisions made long ago. Work with a familiar friend and new allies to save lives and gain power.

New Campaign: Descent into Avernus

Follow the story of the Vallenhas family's infernal descent, and make progress in a new campaign. Finish the campaign and you can earn more Boon points, and unlock access to the new dungeon, the Infernal Citadel.

New Dungeon: Infernal Citadel

The new module brings with it a new endgame dungeon. A step up in difficulty from the Lair of the Mad Mage (though more accessible than the Tower), entry to this dungeon requires campaign progress and a high Item Level. You'll need your wits about you to survive the tricks and trials ahead!

Neverwinter: Uprising Now Live!

Greetings Adventurers!

New Adventures and Perils!

We are super excited to bring you our latest update module, Uprising!* The Endless war between the githyanki and the Mind flaying Illithids has overflowed into Undermountain, looking for an ancient tome, known as the Teachings of Zerthimon. Can you can thwart the githyanki and illithids? The fate of Neverwinter and the Material Plane rests with you!

The trial of trials!

Halaster Blackcloak is none too happy that you have bested his apprentices and are now causing having dealing with an Uprising in his dungeon, so has called you to his personal Tower in a new end game trial. The Tower will pit 10 hardy adventurers against the Mad Mage himself, Halaster Blackcloak, ruler and creator of Undermountain. Emerge victorious and you can earn the powerful lionheart weapons, the strongest in the game yet!

Changes to Protector’s Enclave?

Did Lord Neverember come into a large amount of golden dragons? Will he finally pay out on those promissory notes (which I hope you have kept)? Not even Kavatos with his Robe of Eyes can tell us the answers to these questions- but we can see that Protector’s Enclave has gotten a much needed face lift.

Sergeant Knox has moved to a more central location in Protector’s Enclave and has been conducting other changes, like moving the Events area down to the main grounds for better access. This and plenty more to help facilitate better game play.

And for our new and retuning players…

We have updated the tutorial, and polished and cleaned up game play from levels 1- 20. This is a huge improvement of flow, quests, getting your mount sooner- and clean ups of Blacklake (well not too clean) and the Tower district.

New Race- the gith! To go along with the new beginning of the game clean up, we are excited to announce that this brand new playable race will be available with the launch of Neverwinter: Uprising!

The new gith race will be free for a limited time:
  • Free to VIP for the first 2 weeks of the module (August 13 - August 26)
  • Free to everyone (including VIP) for the 2 weeks after that (August 27 - September 9)
  • Starting September 10, players who didn’t log in for the free gith will have to buy a pack to get access to this race.

New appearance System

This has been a long time coming for Neverwinter and we are very happy to include the new Appearance system in Uprising. The big change from our previous fashion system is that equipment’s appearance and colour is now defined per slot instead of per item, and once you convert, you have it forever! To get you started, we’ve automatically converted all of your fashion items (only fashion items!) that were bound to your character.

New PvP Arena!

Now that you can dominate with your appearance, we are giving you a new PvP arena to dominate. Introducing Stardock Arena, a triangular domination set up floating in space far above the world of Toril. This PvP map introduces new Action point power ups and dangerous holes in the arena that you can fall through, or push your opponents out and into the void of space. Along with the new PvP map we are introducing new PvP gear!

Event Refreshes- new Rewards

On top of all of this, we have been working hard to update our events with new rewards, and other fun surprises. To delve deeper into all the new content and features in Neverwinter: Uprising!

Neverwinter: Undermountain Now Live!

The dreams have called you to this place! The denizens of Undermountain are quite eager to meet you…and ensure your permanent stay in the depths of Halaster’s domain. Neverwinter: Undermountain is now live on PC!*

https://youtu.be/INR-dDiQuVY

Greetings Adventurers and welcome to the largest expansion to Neverwinter since launch! So much stuff it would fill a Bag of Holding! Before I jump into some of my favorite things, I wanted to say that this has been an enormous undertaking for the Neverwinter team, and an important one. There comes a point in a live game when, in order to be able to expand the game and grow it, changes have to be made. We’ve made a lot of changes in the game, with new class revisions, powers, feats, items and a much needed level cap raise to 80. And that’s just the tip of the adventure!

It stands to reason that our biggest expansion would take place in the largest dungeon in Faerun- the Mad Mage Halaster’s dungeon in Undermountain. We are excited to not only open up this Dungeon up to you in the manner of 5 new zones, and even deeper as adventurers unlock the repeatable expedition quests, which have our popular risk/reward system built in.

One more thing- I want to take this time to give a special thanks to all of our players who joined in on both closed and open betas and provided vast amounts of valuable feedback during our production of Undermountain.

Now grab your gear, summon your mount and companions, and get ready to roll for initiative!
