Venture Seas - February Progress Report

Just a quick news update about Venture Seas!

We've made some progress on the development this month, but we are behind where we initially planned to be at this time.

The Covid pandemic has affected our time frames more than initially expected, for various individual reasons. (which is unfortunately, out of our control)

Here are some environment redesigns that Toxxy has worked extra hard on!





We are currently working to refine the starter stages of the game, as well as evenly distribute many sex scenes throughout (each with an easy means to access)

Venture Seas - Beta Branch Major Fixes

The Beta Branch for Venture Seas has updated with major fixes and tweaks! (See the changelog below)

We've noticed more recent negative Steam reviews since releasing the latest beta build, which are really harmful to our standing on Steam.

The Beta builds are NOT intended to present the game in a state to be formally reviewed. Our intention was just to provide a 'hands on' method of seeing our progress, and get a glimpse of what we are aiming to accomplish (and get some valuable input from players!)

We've also heard concerns about gameplay systems negatively impacting content and artwork creation, but this is not the case thankfully!

We have artists working hard and have built up a backlog of content. Our focus after refining the gameplay will be almost entirely on content implementation / creation.

(It can always be changed in future if you do not enjoy the final release of Venture Seas)

Beta Changelog
  • Temp Fix: Converted all 'Manual' stat checks to 'Quick' stat checks
  • All stat checks should be about 20% easier to pass
  • Temp Fix: Increased all starting kits from 1 to 2 during an expedition
  • Temp Fix: Food can now be used to restore HP once again
  • Crewmen Classes are pending slight rework / condensing. Added temp fixes to issues:
  • Fixed unusually high base stats on certain classes
  • Added rune variation between classes, so not everything uses [Double Strike]
  • Added 'Empty' event tiles to reduce the amount of traps in a dungeon
  • Backtrack damage reduced from 20% to 5% (temp adjustment)
  • Fixed clickability issues with rune usage and crewmen
  • Fixed Choice crashes in Jagrit Camp return scene
  • Fixed Choice crashes in Yeti Sex scene
  • Fixed crash in Pathika 'Settling In' scene
  • Fixed crash at end of 'Gull Oasis Water' side quest
  • Fixed crash on completing Lindon Loretta questline
  • Fixed broken progression with Ignacy choices, when in relationship with him
  • Fixed broken progression in Ignacy repeatable sex scene
  • Fixed Woad Daevan scene leading to the wrong combat event
  • Fixed issues with ship roster crewman panel
  • Fixed 'Cursed Territory' causing a 50% reduction to all character stats
  • Temp Fix: Added 'Heal All' button to zone select screen
  • ^(This uses 'private healthcare' code to cost you coin to heal your crew)
  • Fixed crew avatars staying on screen when closing crewman viewer in towns
  • Fixed deck manager not showing all available runes after loading game
  • Fixed crash when dragging a rune onto a player summoned character
  • Fixed Charina Bandit with hounds, leading to Jagrit boss fight
  • Fixed [Healing Hand] usage from enemies, which breaks combat progression
  • Fixed not being able to reach Threat Level 9 in dungeons
  • Fixed issues with Crew Selection, during Zone Selection screen
  • Prevented 'Aurelia Stealing' Kharish town scene if she is not on your ship crew
  • Fixed some grammar issues with text based brothel sex scenes

Dungeons & Dating - Early Beta Testing

We've decided to give you guys an early playable preview of the upcoming build! You can play by joining the Venture Seas Beta Branch (Instructions Below).



Although the new build isn't content complete yet we're excited to be able to give you guys a preview look and help keep you entertained over the festive period.

  • The new year is upon as, and with it will come many additions to Venture Seas, including:
  • An entire story chapter, with a new dungeon (new enemies, items and scenes!)
  • An entirely new dungeon exploration system
  • Complete rework of Combat Runes (which have also doubled in count!)
  • New dating content for each main ship character, including sex animations
  • Many quality of life / minor additions for a more comfortable / enjoyable experience


There are several animations / scenes that are still missing (most dating content is still inaccessible), and the build still needs an overall polish.



We hope you guys will enjoy the new expeditions system, we're really excited to receive feedback on the changes.

For those of you who have played before and are familiar with the rune system, you should find the vastly increased rune count adds a range of new combat options and possibilities.

Please note that old save files are not 'officially' supported for future builds. They may still work, but it will result in an unstable experience (unavoidable unfortunately).

Venture Seas - October Progress Report

We are past due for another progress report!

Toxxy has been hard at work as usual, hammering out new sex content to compliment the dating progression for the main characters. He's been working on a scene where Kari takes charge in the bedroom...



And also a scene where Aurelia gives the player a sensual footjob...



Toxxy has also been working on the interface, drawing lots of amazing icons for the new expedition system!



My work computer was out of commission for over a week, so that slowed down progress on coding... But I instead spent that time planning, and drawing content for the 'update after next' where the player visits a swampland tribe on the central continent, who worship a ruthless futa giantess. I've also revised my plans for the 'ending' to the main storyline, which should also be included in that update.



Before and after that however, I've gotten all dungeons to a stable state in terms of playable content for the new expedition system. Toxxy is currently working to replace the placeholder visuals on these dungeon maps.



All of the new combat runes (over 70 in total) now have unique sound effects and icons!

I've also greatly improved the balance of items, levelling, equipment, combat difficulty etc... and testing over and over to create a satisfying progression.



Ash has completed all of the dating content (and even more stuff) and converted to spreadsheet formats, ready to be added to the game. I just need to pop those files in and test the progression after getting the new dungeons ready.

In related news, we've been working with John Doe as an additional character artist, to produce more and more lewdy content for the game. (below is an example of his past work)



He's currently working on an orgy encounter with the feminine felidan (cat-people) enemies you can encounter in the first dungeon!

I'd ideally like to get this update finely polished and released by Christmas (or at least into the public Steam Beta branch for player testing) But I cannot offer any concrete deadline.

This is quite a way from our roadmap for this year, but we are all working as hard as we can. There's a lot of unexpected issues/changes we wanted to make to the game, and we'd rather take the time to get things 'correct' rather than rushing out unpolished builds like in the past :o

Venture Seas - September Progress Report


It's about time for a progress report on Venture Seas! We've been working hard to get the new dungeon system in place, as well as various improvements throughout the game.

All of the following images show 'Work in Progress' content.



You can now scout for expedition events, and choose the most favorable path through a zone, depending on your current goal (finding new weapons, treasures, etc...) 'starred' events will also allow revisiting of sex scenes within dungeon, to replace sex scenes on combat defeat (so less chance of missing any lewd content) Toxxy is also working on updating the user interface artwork for the new systems.

We started with a rough concept of the new map system, which is now almost fully functional in terms of coding. But we are now experimenting with the interface visuals.





The new zone selection feature allows you to choose from randomly generated zones, which each provide rewards from preset loot trees. The 'threat' system has been expanded into a 'dungeon levelling' system, which allows the player to juggle risk and reward to gain better loot and coin, at the threat of more difficult enemies and penalties during an expedition!



The combat system has undergone several major changes. All Rune effects have been completely reworked, and there are now twice as many runes!

Runes are also now shown as cards during combat. There is also a brand new 'armor' system, encouraging alternate ways to play.





We are adding new outfits and hairstyles to the character viewer, specifically goth / emo style clothes for a new coven of 'witches'.





Ash has been writing new dating content / character development for the main characters, and we have a new animator (LustFire) who is improving many of the old animations in the game.

As well as designing the new interface artwork, Toxxy has been busy drawing cultural elements for the central continent, and a priestess character which will be introduced in a future update. Here are some progress shots as the concepts develop!





Sin has been working on new environment artwork for the 'modern style' Asterian city, which will allow lore-friendly venues that reflect real-life modern venues (coffee shops, gyms, offices etc...) to allow for much more varied potential for lewd encounters!
