Dear Jerzy,

The German lines of defence north of Caen hold good and do not seem to want to break. We are violently pushed back by tanks and the artillery. But I have good news as well, I think I found you a wife! Her name is Alicja, pseudonym “Greta”. She is also a liaison officer like me! Green eyes, dark hair, short stature, higher education and big personal charm, you always talked about such a woman! Jerzy, Alicja also belongs to the AK and will be returning to Warsaw soon, you have to meet her!

Dear Jerzy,

In response to the London bombing tonight, King George VI came to France. Supposedly more than 200 V-1 missiles hit the island. My hunch, however, tells me that parents are safe! And you know I’m a clairvoyant, same as I predicted that you will not go with us to England. I still admire that you found the courage to stay and fight in the AK, but I just miss you. General arranged for us the aviation support, we are about to attack Caen!

Direction - Villers-Bocage, France

15.06.1944

Dear Jerzy,

Today, with armoured units, we tried to break through the front in the direction of Villers-Bocage. It was going great and the plan prepared by the general seemed to work. Unfortunately, just before our destination, we fell into an ambush. German Tiger tanks were everywhere, they were waiting for us! As a liaison, I was asked to withdraw and pass the coordinates for our artillery. Let the rain fall on those damned Tigers!

Breville-les-Monts, France

14.06.1944

Dear Jerzy,

The general was right, Germans launched the first 10 V-1 missiles towards London today. Fortunately, the parents are safe! I stayed up all night worrying about them. Intelligence found out that Germans set up defences in all directions in the Amaye-sur-Seulles - Tracy-Bocage - St-Germain. I need some sleep, I miss our home in Warsaw, our children's room, our beds. I'll never get used to falling asleep to the sound of gunshots…

Breville-les-Monts, France

13.06.1944

Dear Jerzy,

Yesterday night by the order of Major-General Richard Nelson Gale, we eventually reached and secured the Breville! Unfortunately, the Germans greeted us with heavy artillery fire and many high-rank officers lost their lives. I’m exhausted and I miss you. The general says that Germans are preparing the launch of the V-1 missiles towards London, I’m worried about mom, she hasn't worked through the migration trauma yet…
