A: The IXION demo will be available for the duration of the Steam Next Fest (February 21st - 28th).

Q: What PC specs are needed to run the demo?
A: Minimum:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K or AMD FX-8310
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: GTX 1060 4GB or Radeon RX 590
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 20 GB available space

Recommended:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 3 3200G
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: GTX 2060 6GB or Radeon RX 5700
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 20 GB available space

Q: I’m not sure how a certain gameplay mechanic works?
A: There is a detailed tutorial in-game, but you can also ping us in the #demo channel on Discord and a DOLOS employee will get back to you.

Q: How do I report a bug?
A: You can hit F11 in-game anytime to send a bug report.

Q: Is there a feedback form?
A: Yes, there is a feedback form accessible in the demo.

Q: Where can I get the soundtrack?
A: Our soundtrack is still a work in progress, but we will make sure there are plenty of options to access the soundtrack upon full release of the game.

Q: Why is the Moon gone?
A: DOLOS can’t comment at this time. Please see DOLOS’ Official IXION Announcement for more information.

Q: Is 4K supported?
A: No, not for the demo. However, 4K will be supported for full game release.

Q: How do the mining ships work?
A: Mining ships will make up an important part of your fleet when extracting resources in the full game. In the demo however, you won’t need to use these. Instead, make sure you have enough spaces in your Docking Bays for Science and Cargo ships, so that you can progress through objectives.

Q: I’m having trouble changing screens and language?
A: A restart is required for visual and language changes to take effect. When changing languages, please do so in the main menu and restart. Changing languages mid-game could cause discrepancies.

Q: How much content is in the demo?
A: This is just a prologue experience. At full release there will be more chapters, more opportunity for freedom, more survival elements and challenging difficulty.

Q: When will the game be optimised for performance?
A: There may be occasions of small FPS drops with a full Sector 1, however the game will be fully optimised by the end of production, in time for full release.

Q: Can I save during the demo?
A: Save / Load is not available during the demo.

Q: How do I feed my population?
A: Food resource itself can be found in a supply pile near the Docking Bay. Food must be stored in a Stockpile (which can be done by clicking on the icon above the supply - this will begin the transport of the resource to the Stockpile).

You can view how much food your crew requires by clicking on the Refectory and looking at the panel. (A single Refectory can feed up to 100 crew. If you have more crew than this, you will need a second Refectory). Refectories do not create food, they serve meals using the food resource and will take this from a Stockpile.

The Urshanabi (accessed on the Planetary System Map) will also provide food. You will need a Cargo Ship to collect this. This will only re-supply once the station stock is depleted, and you must have a cargo ship close by. There is also a food delivery from DOLOS once the Tiqqun has moved to the Moon.

Q: How do I collect science points?
A: A Science Ship will collect science points from completed events automatically, by leaving them by the location of the science points.

Q: Is Ultrawide supported?
A: No, Ultrawide is not currently supported for the demo. However this will be fully supported in time for full game release.

Q: Will there be multiplayer?
A: No this game is not multiplayer and we do not currently have any plans to include this.

Q: Is this game an early access title?
A: No, this game won’t be released as an early access title.

Q: Does the demo use analytics?
A: Yes, IXION uses Unity Analytics. These analytics collect certain gameplay and device data to help us improve IXION by providing us with aggregated analytics and usage information. Additional information and information on how to opt-out of Unity Analytics, and use of data, can be found here.

Known issues:

  • If you delete all the starting roads, this will cause a crash. One square of road must remain until you have built more roads. The best practice is to leave the road around the Docking Bay. Once you have built more roads, you can construct and delete to your heart’s content.
  • Only initiate the VOHLE jump when you receive the objective telling you to do so via the planetary system map, after Vanir Dolos has talked to you. Doing so before will cause a loading screen freeze. (How dare you skip Vanir.)
  • You can construct small Solar Panels - but stop / starting construction, or canceling it, or trying to build multiple solar panels at the same time can cause issues. Simply select your chosen solar panel, and leave it to build.
  • On very rare occasions, if you have built a second workshop, its Mech may pause when carrying out road construction. We believe this is to do with frequent alt-tabbing.

So. You just test-fired the experimental engine on your brand new orbiting space station and, well… it kinda blew up the moon. But somehow that's not even the worst bit of news you'll get today. In colony sim Ixion, you're managing a space station and its crew as things quickly go from bad to worse to utterly unthinkable...
