🛠️ 2023 was a big year for Paralives ⚙️

Paralives never ceases to amaze me as an indie simulation game, with its vibrant art style and immersive gameplay. You'd never know that it all initially came from the mind of one solo developer. Paralives just keeps getting more impressive, with the dev now showing off some of the activities our Parafolks will be able to enjoy. If you've enjoyed playing with musicians in The Sims 4, get excited because you'll be able to keep creating tunes in Paralives. That's right, piano is the latest revealed skill and it's music to my ears.

The Sims 4 has long dominated the life simulation arena, but a pair of hopeful rivals are soon stepping into the ring to challenge the undisputed champ. Life By You and Paralives both have grand plans to unseat (or at least share it with) EA’s life sim juggernaut, and they both promise to set themselves apart with features that Simmers have long been asking for. But I only have one question for both of them: can I kill my Sims? Or Parafolk? Or… Lifers? In the case of Paralives, the answer is thankfully a big fat yes.
It's been a busy week for indie competitors aiming to take some of the shine off of The Sims 4's life sim crown. No sooner had Tiny Life rolled out a significant content update, than Paralives shared a 30 second teaser video with a first-look at the game's death and autonomy systems.
The footage and accompanying dev post were originally released to Patrons in late May, but Paralives Studio have now let the general public in for a first look:
Roll on the inevitable comparisons to The Sims, then: Paralives' autonomy system shares its basic DNA with that of EA's life sim giant, in that you can customise the level of autonomy enjoyed by your little computer people to suit your preferences. This, incidentally, represents a different approach from what we've seen of other major Sims rival Life By You, which insists on letting the AI take control in most cases when you're not playing as a given character.
