Game Update: Men of War II Production

Greetings commanders!

We are happy to say that the development of the game is progressing at a steady pace. You will start seeing much more of Men of War II in the near future, and we are not forgetting any other commitments we have made either – we will start contacting the players of Men of War: Arena shortly and confirming details of all the rewards they are eligible for by e-mail. Let us just assure you, that everything we have promised still stands.

Now, we have received a lot of heartwarming messages and comments after our last community update, and even offers of help. We would like to take you up on those offers; as we are nearing the first stages of larger scale testing, we are ramping up the Champions program for community beta-testing, in cooperation with our publisher. If you would like to be among the first to get their hands on the game and help shape it with your feedback, join the 1C Entertainment Discord server and read the details, including a guide on how to sign up; your help will be very much appreciated.

Thank you everyone for your continuous support. We can’t wait until we start sharing more of Men of War II with you again, so we will leave today’s message with a little appetizer, we hope you will enjoy it. Stay safe everyone, and we will have more for you soon.

A message from developers to the community

Hello, commanders!

We’ve been quiet about Men of War II for a while now and we believe you, as the game’s loyal supporters, have the right to an explanation.

As you probably know, we here at Best Way are a Ukraine-based gamedev team. Due to the war, development has been suspended since the end of February until recently. We did not want to make any comments, because our particular situation was extremely complicated, and still is quite uneasy.

However, despite the fact that there are no completely safe places in Ukraine, we are now able to continue our work on the game; which brings us a lot of joy in these difficult times. Thank you very much for your understanding, patience and the love you have shown us - it is truly appreciated!

Regarding the game itself, we have no estimated release date or any other news like that at the moment, but we can at least share a new screenshot with you:

Stay safe and take care of each other, everyone. We will have more updates for you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Best Way development team

Join the Men of War II Q&A Contest!

Hey commanders,

The Golden Joystick Awards 2021... big announcement... it seems like yesterday. Thank you for all your support and first emotions! Right now, the Best Way team is working hard on Men of War II to deliver you the best experience in the series.

But we understand that you need some answers from our side about the game. So it's time to launch a small contest. Until February 4, you can submit your questions about the game here in this thread on Steam (in any of your preferred languages). And the best of them will be answered by the developers as part of the first Dev Diary, which will be released sometime next month. It's pretty simple, but let's repeat:

  • Write your questions about Men of War II in this thread, but remember: they must be about the game. Spam or unrelated questions will not be eligible.
  • You can enter the contest until February 4, 2022.
  • The Best Way team members will answer the best questions in the first Dev Diary.

We hope our carrier pigeon conveyed the information correctly and did not eat the important dispatch earlier.

Good luck!

WW2 RTS game Men of War II will bring an excellent series back to life

If you're excited about the prospect of WW2 strategy game Company of Heroes making a comeback, we've got some excellent news. CoH's scrappy, Eastern European cousin Men of War is staging a return of its own. Russian publisher 1C Entertainment has announced today that it's officially making Men of War II, in partnership with Ukranian developer Best Way.

This tactical RTS game will draw a line under a decade of (slightly convoluted) Men of War development and start anew with a brand-new entry. Headline features include an updated engine, better graphics, a frontline system, and better mod support. While Men of War games have a strong multiplayer culture, the series also gives a good single-player romp, which makes a return here with two fully fleshed-out campaigns.

For the WW2 enthusiasts among you, Men of War II will also feature one of the most "detailed and accurate" rosters of WW2 hardware, with 300 historically accurate vehicles and 45 battalions. It's easy to get lost in comparing Men of War to Company of Heroes - both are fundamentally tactical RTS WW2 games after all. The key difference, though, is that Men of War forgoes base building to focus on the action.
