Hey all,
For this update I’ve done some work on the tutorial and would love to hear your feedback on it.

I’ve just launched an update to Azure which features the Quest System, Ship Painting, Map changes, UI overhaul & bug fixes.
There’s a lot of content creation still to do, but features are coming into place.

v0.8.1 Live

Hey all,

Good news - I’ve just put version 0.8.1 live!

Stats

[h2]Hygiene[/h2]
  • Mess has been replaced with a ship-wide and room-based Hygiene stat.
  • Rooms will get progressively messier each hour, with dust, mess then mice appearing if uncleaned.
  • Labourers will clean them automatically if the Hygiene value drops too low.
  • Poor Hygiene will reduce Happiness and increase the chance a crew member will become sick.
  • Crew members with lower Resistance will be the first to become sick.

[h2]Happiness[/h2]
  • Happiness is now a ship-wide stat, updated on the hour.
  • Sources of Happiness & Unhappiness include Hunger, Thirst, Wages & Hygiene
  • Unhappy crew may leave the ship
  • Crew lower higher Fortitude will be the last to leave if too unhappy
  • Visiting a new island will boost happiness on that hour


New Rooms

[h2]Washrooms[/h2]
  • Washrooms will provide a bonus to Hygiene stat, helping prevent crew from getting sick

[h2]Navigation Deck[/h2]
  • These external rooms provide Navigation power, which is required to search for special islands

[h2]Library[/h2]
  • Adds to Happiness


World
  • Moved the Sun & Moon to be onscreen while in the normal mode

New Ship Building mechanics

Hey all,

After a radical overhaul of gameplay mechanics, I’m happier with the direction the project is going and just pushed the latest version on to Steam.

  • The main game mode now features a 2.5D camera
  • Ships now consist of sections and rooms
  • Sections extend your ship length wise
  • Rooms can be built and stacked
  • Crew members can be assigned to rooms to provide functionality


With this change, categories in the Workshop will no longer be compatible, and essentially disabled – sorry to anyone this annoyed.

Change of plan

Hey all,

After some burnout and deliberation, I became disheartened with the direction the project was going and have reverted the design back a fair bit. The more complex ship-building system will be shelved for now, and re-implemented later in a reduced scope.

Constructing the ship is now as previously designed- with a room based system. This should provide a much tidier and user-friendly approach to progress & allow me to focus on other gameplay mechanics.

I’m much happier and more confident with this approach, but I apologise to anyone affected by the change.
