• Improved controller button image detection across all common types

• Fixed controller button images not appearing as expected with the DualSense controller
• Fixed ultrawide sidebar art positioning at 3840x1600 resolution
• Fixed a rare issue with the Steam Overlay and Vulkan rendering

Hades wins first-ever Hugo Award for Best Video Game!

On December 18, 2021, Hades earned the first-ever Hugo Award for Best Video Game! This one was special even among all the wonderful accolades our game has received.

The Hugo Awards are legendary in the world of fantasy and science fiction media, and date back to the early 1950s. Best Novel winners over the years include iconic works such as The Man in the High Castle, Dune, Neuromancer, and American Gods, among many more. Yet this was the very first year the Hugos included a Best Video Game category, so it's all the more reason we were deeply grateful and honored that our game earned the distinction out of all the nominees.

We hope the Hugos continue to recognize great works of fantasy and science fiction in this medium!

Hades becomes the first video game to win a Hugo Award

Supergiant Games' gay, Greek gallivant, Hades, is the first video game to receive a Hugo Award. The awards which celebrate literary works in the science-fiction and fantasy genres, added a special one-off 'Best Video Game' category this year, which is where old Zagreus picked up his accolade. Our short king's battle out of the underworld beat out its closest competition, cosy escapism simulator, Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the polls by almost fourfold.

The Hugo Awards announced the first winner of its newly created Best Video Game award, and it’s Hades, the roguelite action RPG from developer Supergiant Games. Though the Hugo Awards is a literary awards show dedicated to science fiction and fantasy, this year it branched out into the world of video games and gave Hades another chance to make history.

Supergiant creative director Greg Kasavin reacted to his studio’s game winning a Hugo Award in a tweet, expressing regret that he couldn’t be there to accept on behalf of the team, but shared his gratitude at video games finally having a space at the storied awards show and thanking it for his studio’s work in particular.

Other games nominated for the historic first prize were Final Fantasy 7 Remake, The Last of Us: Part 2, Spiritfarer, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Blaseball, all 2020 games, as the Hugo Awards looks at works from the previous year.
