Running your business can be pretty taxing on occasion. That’s why we’ve prepared a variety of other fun activities you can explore when you find some free time. Nevertheless, when it comes to the main activities that make your business an actual business, we still tried to make them as entertaining and fun as possible. This DevLog will tell you a bit more about what you can look forward to.
[h3]Painting[/h3]
You can make your gas station look fresh and sparkling new. Just pick your favourite colour and start painting. At the beginning, you only have a limited choice of colours, but the more you progress with your gas station, the more colours you unlock. However, make sure you stay in the designated area while painting to avoid splashing paint all over the place and giving yourself more work to clean it up afterwards. You can paint everything from outside walls and interior walls to the roof. Of course, painting isn’t limited only to your gas station. You can paint the warehouse and the workshop too.
Also, make sure to keep in mind that the colour wears out over time and a new layer of paint will eventually be needed. Harsh conditions of the desert are to blame and you will need to repaint everything, especially if sandstorms hit your gas station hard. Last thing to look out for is Dennis, as he can ruin your walls and spray graffiti on some of your property. This will call for repainting your walls again - if you decide that you don’t like his “art”.
[h3]Fueling[/h3]
Of course fueling is a major feature of the game! After all, you are playing a gas station simulator. Fueling vehicles is the main task you will find yourself performing and how you will generate most of your early income. You just need to grab the nozzle, insert it into the vehicle’s fuel intake and start filling the tank up to the desired amount of the ordered fuel.
As with painting, there is a designated area that will either give a bonus tip or take a penalty. As strange as it might sound, dispensing more fuel than desired will prevent you from receiving a tip and fueling someone less than their order will have the same effect, that is why you should always try your best to stop fueling when you reach the designated area. Not only to receive a tip, but also to position well in the accuracy leaderboard. You will also need to keep an eye out for your gas supply, you don’t want to run out. If you find yourself in need to order more fuel, just simply do so on your PC.
[h3]Cleaning[/h3]
Cleaning the gas station is a very important step in increasing its popularity and keeping your customers happy. You have a broom and a trash bag at your disposal ready at any time. Every so often, customers will leave litter behind and miss the trash bin. That’s why you need to make sure there is no garbage left behind and that it is always clean at your station.
Make sure you always look at the cleanliness bar that is in the top left corner of your screen and that it stays in the green. Also make sure to always throw away your trash bins once they are full.
Trash on the floor is not the only concern, sand is another one. After all, you are in the middle of the desert. Look out for trails of sand customers can drag inside your gas station and make sure to get rid of them. The gas station building itself is not the only area you need to keep clean. Don’t forget the toilets. Nobody likes to use dirty toilets. Keep them both clean accordingly to ensure the best quality of your services and that no customers leave because of the smell. Or because they stepped into… something.
[h3]Selling & Stocking[/h3]
You already had the chance to experience operating your shop, restocking everything that is essential to run a business in the Prologue. The shop mini-game consists of purchasing goods and selling them to customers while maintaining their presence on your shop shelves at all times. You can man the cash register yourself, using the conveyor belt to move items towards you and then scanning each and every one before selling them. If you make a mistake, that’s on you, but if you are quick enough, you’ve earned yourself a tip.
As mentioned, you will also need to keep an eye on your product supplies and not only on the gas supplies. You don’t want to run out of sellable goods. Purchasing products when their price is at the lowest is very important and quite shrewd, too. After that, unpack them and place them in your warehouse, then display them at your shop in order to sell them.
[h3]Repairing Cars[/h3]
Another way to make that business of yours more interesting is the car repairing minigame we have prepared for you. Once you expand your gas station to also have a workshop, selling gas will no longer be the sole source of profit. Though not very common, it can happen that a car malfunctions in the middle of the desert and will require your attention. That’s why you need to be prepared to repair such a vehicle immediately, hopefully making some good cash while doing it.
Car repairs vary from changing wheels, replacing broken mirrors, removing scratches to changing coolant, refilling oil and replacing old batteries. Supply plays a role here as well by keeping your shelves stocked with all the necessary spare car parts, which you will need to order in the same way you order products for your shop.
[h3]RC Racing[/h3]
If you have spare time to take a break from all that going on, the area at your gas station can sometimes provide the relief from stress you might so desperately need. RC races are great for competing not only against your friends, but against the whole world. With global ranking present, you can compete for first place and the best time. It’s not all for the sake of bragging rights, however. Finish the race within a certain time and you might just get an opportunity to earn some extra cash on the side. You will be able to test your skills on an amazing set of tracks we’ve prepared for you. Happy racing.
[h3]Lock picking[/h3]
Used car salesmen aren’t known to be honest, why must the operator of a gas station be? Hustling for money is time consuming and sometimes you get paid way less than what you deserve. That’s why we’ve placed an option for crafty players who are not interested in waiting to make their fortune. Lockpicking is a feature where you can choose almost any car, get to its trunk and try to open the lock. You have 3 tiers of lock complexity - easy, intermediate and master. Each is progressively harder than the other, respectfully.
You will have 2 tries to crack a lock. Failure means both the owner of the car will be alerted and you won’t get the goods from the trunk. However, if you succeed, you can get some unique items and/or some extra cash. And of course, as the client won’t know, you’ll have an opportunity to rake extra money off them at the usual station services.
[h3]Basketball[/h3]
Shooting balls at the basket is self-explanatory and we all know it. Doing it on your own can be very relaxing. If you have some spare time and want to spend it by doing some “physical activity”, you can choose to play some basketball. See how good your aim is. After all, you have the whole field right next to your station! Score as much as you can!
[h3]Guitar[/h3]
Last but not the least, your warehouse holds a guitar on which you will be able to play some funky tunes. Perhaps you are not that fond of playing sports or racing with toy cars, but your soul is deeply inspired and artistic. Grab the guitar and play something amazing. All you have to do is get your warehouse up and running, and it’ll come with a complimentary way to indulge your musical ear whenever you like to.
