Fallout 76 Hotfix Notes - April 7, 2025

Today the we deployed a hotfix update to Fallout 76 that addresses some topics that appeared after the release of the Ghoul Within update.

  • Fixed situations where Rad Specialist caused other perks to unequip.
  • The Catalyst questline no longer enters a state where it becomes incompletable.
  • Players no longer get stuck as a human when completing “New Pair of Genes” Ghoul questline.
  • Addressed an issue with Daily Ops which caused them to not rotate as expected.

Fallout 76 is currently testing the one thing that makes every game better: fishing

Fishing! It's a feature that's been included in many games over the years, one that varies in quality from game to game. Sega Bass Fishing? Probably top of the line, as long as you have that unique fishing rod controller. Stardew Valley? I like it, but I know plenty of people that hate it. Personally I normally find it quite a relaxing thing to do, particularly in games that are otherwise combat focused. Fallout 76 is one such game that's more about shooting rather than chilling out, but over on the public test server you can now try out its version of fishing.

Fallout 76 fishing finally arrives as major new update lands on the PTS

First teased back in October, the Fallout 76 fishing update is finally upon us, and the new leisure activity is just the start of a pretty comprehensive patch that's just landed on the survival game's PTS. The developer also reveals a notable rework to limb damage and some crafting adjustments included in the new overhaul, which is now live on the public test server.

Ok, Fallout 76's Ghoul Within update: I'll play as a ghoul if you stop using words like "Ghoultastic"

What's the pettiest reason you began to distance yourself from an old friend? I once casually suggested to a mate that I found toast more filling than bread, which prompted them to bang on for far too long about how I was actually wrong, since the act of toasting necessarily diminishes the structure of bread or somesuch. I'm not sure whether that's true and I don't care. I was speaking my truth about toast and you undermined it. Jog on, toast denier.

Fallout 76's new Ghoul Within update is 18.9 GB, which may well conclusively prove that searing ghoulification actually ends up with the victim weighing more than they did previously. I wish I'd known this at the time of my yeasty bust-up, because I'd have probably tried to make the same argument about toast. We might have stayed mates then. Maybe we could have played Fallout 76 together? Why, that's the subject of this very Steam blog! Incredible.

Huge new Fallout 76 Ghoul update doubles the RPG's Steam player count

The Fallout 76 ghoul update just enabled its players to become irradiated scum for the first time in franchise history. The ghouls have existed as both friends and foes across Fallout's many games from its CRPG origins until now. Walton Goggins even played a ghoul in the Fallout Amazon Prime show. Until this update, radiation has always meant certain death for the all-too-weak player characters. Now, you can embrace humankind's nuclear fate and thousands of players have logged on to do so. Since the ghoul update's release, Fallout 76's player count has doubled. Monday, March 17's concurrent user count was 8,479. Tuesday, March 18 hit 16,421, corresponding directly with the patch's launch.
