Morels: The Hunt News

In celebration of the upcoming Wholesome Games Celebration, we are going to be adding a Crystal Morel to both Morels games. The Crystal Morel is not anything you are tasked with finding. It is something that is completely optional and just a bonus if you do find it. The update will go live on August 15th which is the day the Wholesome Games Celebration starts.



-There is only one Crystal Morel in each Morels: The Hunt game.
-It is hidden in a map in the same spot all the time like the Golden Morels.
-The Crystal Morel will be displayed in your Trophy Room above the Golden Morels.
-If you find the Crystal Morel, you will unlock the very first game we ever made before the Morels: The Hunt games.
-You will be able to access this game on the Main Menu after you find the Crystal Morel.

[h2]Information about the game that is unlocked.[/h2]

• It is the first game I ever made years ago. Nothing has been changed. It is the exact game made from way back then.
  
• It is a mushroom hunting game.
  
• It uses a different pickup method explained in the instructions of the game.
  
• The graphics won't be great and the game will be a bit janky.
  
• The game is only in English.
  
• Each Morels: the Hunt game will feature the same game but a different map to play. The concept will be the same. Find all 16 morel mushrooms in the map.

We are working with a porting company to hopefully get Morels: The Hunt 2 released on PS5.

Health Update

As of now I am on schedule to have a bone marrow transplant in January. Until then, I am doing rounds of chemo each month. The chemo is helping my MDS but is not helping much with VEXAS. If the bone marrow transplant is successful, it could cure me of both.

[h2]Planet 47 Games[/h2]

If anyone is interested, I also create solo games in my free time under the developer name Planet 47 Games. I recently released a game called Spider Fox. It is a game I made for my 5 year old son. A lot of things in the game were his ideas. He was a good playtester as well. The newest game I am working on is called 'Bigfoot Life.' You may notice some familiar things from Morels: The Hunt in this game.

This is Wes from Abrams Studios. As many of you know, our studio is made up of just three brothers. We make games about things we love and are passionate about. None of us are able to do this full-time making our resources limited. I am the lead developer, only programmer, the one who handles all support issues, manages the Steam Community Hub and Social Media.

The reason why I wanted to mention the above is because I am dealing with some health issues that have hit me harder than expected. There will be times like this last week where I will be limited to what I can do on the game because of my health. This will eventually lead to me having to have a Bone Marrow Transplant sometime between Summer and Fall. When that happens I will mostly likely have to take a couple of months off. I felt it was important to let everyone know at least a little about the situation so there will be no surprise when that happens. I will make a post on here when that time comes so everyone knows there my be limited replies or updates during that time. Until then we will do our best to keep updating the game and I will do my best to keep up with support and the steam hub as well. There will be other times where my treatment or other things to do with my health may delay my responses but I will do my best to get back to everyone as soon as I can.

Friends, I have officially discovered another game I can play with my life partner, who regards most games with enormous suspicion and fatigue. That game is Morels: The Hunt 2, released this week, and as you might guess, it is about finding and identifying various species of mushroom in lush, photorealistic wilderness locations. There are also unicorns, crystal skulls and robot parts. Slightly confused by the unicorns, crystal skulls and robot parts, if I'm honest. It feels a bit like developers Abrams Studios are unconvinced as to the popular appeal of mushroom hunting, and have garlanded the concept with random mythology so as to widen the Venn diagram overlap between "fungi fans" and "people who want to live in cyberpunk Narnia".

There was a bug that was causing morel locations in the Redwood Forest map to spawn in new locations everyday instead of the same locations. This should be fixed in this update.
