The Perfect MEAT Companion!

Imagine being stranded at a certain extraction point, unable to call for reinforcements as you fight back against an onslaught of Meat monsters…until one of those monsters starts fighting by your side!

In this hypothetical scenario, we’ve picked out several Meat monsters found among the horde (excluding bosses!) that may prove themselves worthy of being counted as an ally of humanity…or, maybe just an ally of YOU!
Infected Meat Car
Why not face your doom riding in style? A very HUNGRY and BLOODTHIRSTY style! Maybe it’s the image of shooting down hordes upon hordes of monsters from an Infected Meat Car that piques the interest of some.

Or perhaps the thought of valiantly crashing your way into a boss’s innards, as you go out with an explosion of the ages, is all you need to think of when selecting this monster? Whatever the case, you can’t go wrong with this one–only other question would be: WHICH Meat Car would you choose?
Blat
Sometimes you just need a little sense of humor when facing the near end of the world. Or maybe a sense of humor ISN’T what comes to mind when looking at a Blat’s face with its tongue constantly falling to its side!

Nevertheless, a Blat is the perfect personal flying companion that can either give you some solace knowing you have a friend at your side, or some twisted dread knowing this flying creature can only…fly around as you get eaten, mangled, torn apart, etc. all while this thing flies around and around–tongue out.

But if you anticipate doing all the heavy lifting in terms of fighting and just want a friendly flying critter for the sake of having one, then a Blat is definitely for you!
Infected Human / Turretface / Hothead
What instantly comes to mind is the idea of a human who is still able to retain their humanity even after becoming infected by the Meat. Now, while the image of conversing with a partially disembodied or morphed human may frighten some, it could perhaps be a welcome (and unexpected) sight for others in the face of overwhelming odds.

It would come down to preference in this case: Would you want one of the many common Infected Human versions running around? Or maybe a talking Turretface may serve a more practical use with its orange projectile fire?

Even still, Hotheads may provide much needed pressure when dealing with hordes, thanks to their explosive craniums!
Grubs
You love ’em, you hate ‘em, or you feel nothing about ‘em! These little critters are intended to overwhelm their prey with their sheer numbers. There is suspicion that these smaller worms are capable of entering and infecting living hosts, taking control of their bodies and expanding the horde.

But having one at your side? Probably either the dumbest or the most innovative choice you could imagine! If its parasitic ability holds true, just throw this little one inside the mouth of any boss monster, and watch the excruciating “magic” happen as the boss suddenly becomes your ally! Regardless, some soldiers may find these critters to be cute, so there’s plus!...as long as they’re not trying to assimilate YOU!
Chomper
Picture this: You’re about to be attacked from behind by an Infected Human when CHOMP! You turn around to find your Chomper friend enjoying its freshly caught meal.

Breathing a sigh of relief, you pet your monster pal, point to another Infected Human, and chase after it to reengage the horde!

Now, one could imagine several disadvantages with this one, but having a Meat monster available that will be more than happy to gobble up enemies for you? Yes, please!

As the Earth struggles to counter the Meat invasion, having one of their own as an ally can be quite an interesting concept to think of! Each of the monsters listed has their fair share of advantages and drawbacks–some more prominent than others.

Regardless, you can look forward to choosing a BOSS MONSTER you’d want as a friend the next time around!

The Meat: An Experiment Gone Wrong!

During his work on interdimensional portal research, scientist Yuri Markov was able to discover an entity existing within an uncharted space. With curiosity getting the better of him, Markov decided to bring the entity back to his lab at the Tycho Crater Base on the Moon.

While under the supervision of the Earth Counter Invasion Force, Markov conducted experiments on the entity he dubbed as "The Meat" to try and understand its functions, energy harvesting, and interdimensional capabilities. However, the scientist was also able to identify how The Meat could absorb inanimate objects and, to his shock, organic material--FLESH.

Knowing of the potential horrors that could be unleashed should The Meat ever come into contact with humans, Markov resolved to keep the entity contained at his lab as he continued to study it further.

However, what Markov did not account for was that The Meat was, in fact, sentient. Biding its time while watching Markov work oblivious to its intentions, The Meat prepared to break out of its feeble prison created by the scientist and his team.

Finally, upon learning of Markov’s true intentions for studying it, The Meat believed the time had come to free itself and begin its assimilation of the Moon Base and, subsequently, the invasion of Earth...
