Update 1.6.4.4: Storm Setting, More Conquest Maps and news about Full Launch

Ahoy Mateys!

Time for another update! But before that we’ve got something to talk about...

Many of you might have already gotten your hard earned pirate gold ready to buy Blazing Sails for yourself or a friend upon full release later this month. In the meantime we’ve been hard at work fixing the last bugs and improving the game even more to get it all set up. However, reflecting on the game as a team, we realised we don't think we're done with Early Access. The reason we released in EA from the very beginning has been to receive player feedback and get Blazing Sails to a place we're uniformly proud of - and we don't think we're there yet.



That being said, we don’t want to leave you pirates in the dark. Therefore we’ve decided to already release the Storm Setting and Extra Conquest Maps in this free update!

We’d also like to take this opportunity to ask for a bit of feedback from you all! What do you think about the current state of the game? What can we add for a successful full launch? And why? We’d love to find out what you think of all this. Therefore we have created this handy form

[h3]New weather setting:[/h3]
  • Storm weather setting added (including rain, lightning, thunder, billowing clouds and wind)


[h3]Conquest overhaul:[/h3]
  • Conquest matches are now divided in 5 rounds (best out of 5 wins)
  • Each conquest map now only has 3 flags active at a time
  • Active flags are always random and change after each round


[h3]New conquest maps:[/h3]
  • Added Trident conquest map
  • Added Buccaneer Bay conquest map
  • Added Bone Barge conquest map
  • Added Skull conquest map
  • Added Haunted Swamps conquest map
  • Added Unlikely Neighbors conquest map


[h3]Localisation (translation) pass:[/h3]
  • We've done another pass of translations on all of the new words added during the last few months. Translation are now more complete (should be 95%)


[h3]Bug fixes:[/h3]
  • Green water bug when entering conquest server fixed
  • Fixed a performance leak in conquest maps
  • Fixed bugged death zone in tutorial level
  • Seagull crates no longer spawn in tutorial level
  • Playtime score no longer awarded to spectators
  • Leave server pop up box no longer gives score loss warning on client hosted servers

Faster Leveling, Game Startup Fixes and more!

Ahoy!

First of all: A recent fix to the game incorrectly flagged part of our game as containing malicious content on some systems. We removed the tool causing this issue and were able to add the fix without it. None of your personal files or system were in danger. Our sincere apologies for any problems this might have caused.

We've also heard your feedback about our recently added progression system! Therefore we have now also added a generous amount of points based on your actual playtime. This way we want to increase the leveling speed for both experienced and new players. Even more additions coming very soon!

In the meantime we're also hard at work making more additions and improvements tot the Conquest Mode! We've decided to temporarily disable the mode for now while we fix some issues and add new additions.


Patch notes:

[h3]Gameplay improvements:[/h3]
  • Can no longer farm XP when sails are fully damaged
  • Can no longer reload while climbing ladder
  • Improved player / ship collision which should make it much harder to penetrate the hull
  • Can no longer interact with objects inside of the ship hull while swimming
  • Can no longer repair damage from atop the deck
  • End game ghost ship should no longer spawn inside cliffs or islands anymore


[h3]Party UI additions:[/h3]
  • Party member info box now shows party member's level in main menu parties


[h3]Progression improvements:[/h3]
  • You now get 17 XP (score) every 10 seconds while playing (only during match, not pre-game)


[h3]Visual improvements:[/h3]
  • Underwater effects now include blue colorisation


[h3]Bug fixes:[/h3]
  • Fixed "Leave party" and "Kick" buttons being swapped in party UI

Version 1.6.3: Performance tweaks, bug fixes and more

We've got another small hotfix today. Bringing some performance improvements and some bug fixes.

We left the version number the same as all changes were clientside only and this way server doesn't need a rebuild

[h3]Performance improvements:[/h3]
  • Added distance based tickrate optimisation for characters and ships
  • Fixed a performance leak with player characters


[h3]UI additions:[/h3]
  • Added a leave prompt when trying to leave a game which also shows how much XP you will not gain when leaving before being defeated
  • Added a leave prompt when trying to exit the game from the main menu


[h3]General improvements:[/h3]
  • First person swimming sounds play a bit faster now to match third person swimming


[h3]Bug fixes:[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused upper legs to become invisible when equiping certain bicorn
  • Fixed "missing string entry" bug in hints

Roadmap Update: FULL RELEASE Coming September!

Ahoy! The final stop of our Early Access Roadmap is coming close!

First of all: We're proud to announce Blazing Sails will be leaving Early Access this September!



[h3]Conquest Gamemode[/h3]
At first we did plan on making a new island on full release but eventually decided to go in a different direction because we feel that other additions would spice up the gameplay more. And as we all know, a good pirate must be able to change course now and then.

That's why we have been working on the new conquest gamemode which some of you might have already played in it's experimental form on live. Upon full release, we will have added more maps and many improvements to the conquest mode as it exits its experimental phase!

[h3]Storm Setting[/h3]
And that's not all! We also plan on adding a brand spanking new storm setting to all gamemodes! In this setting waves are more intense than usual, vision is unclear because of the heavy rain, and roaring thunderstrikes will easily be mistaken for cannonfire!



We've got many more sweet things planned like some epic new outfits, exchanging post, many other improvements, etc... but we don't want to spoil too much for now.
