American Quarter Horses and Crossbreeding - Update 1.26

Welcome to the latest update for Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition!

Today's update introduces two exciting additions to the game, both set to change how you take the reins of Rival Stars Horse Racing. Let's jump straight in!
New Breed: American Quarter Horse
As promised in our last round of update notes, we are thrilled to introduce the Majestic American Quarter Horse to the stables!

A celebrated icon in the equine world with a rich history dating back to colonial America, the American Quarter Horse is renowned for its versatility and incredible speed over short distances. This breed has made a name for itself in racing, represented in game with a +5 Acceleration and +2 Speed bonus, the American Quarter Horse is primed to excel in races demanding quick bursts of power and speed.
How to get an American Quarter Horse:
You have a few options to get an American Quarter Horse in the game: the Horse Creator, Breeding Screen, and Market.
New Feature: Crossbreeding
We have all these new horses, but what happens if you breed them together? Previously, breeding two different breeds of horses would result in a 50/50 chance of receiving a foal of either breed. Well, that has all changed with this update!

Introducing Crossbreeding: a game-changing feature that lets you create unique foals by combining different breeds.

Here’s how it works:
 • Crossbreed Definition: A horse with less than 90% of any particular breed is considered a Crossbreed.
 • Breeding Purebreds: Breed two different purebreds, and you’ll get a foal that’s a perfect 50-50 blend of its parents.

Crossbreeds can have up to four breeds in their genetic makeup, offering exciting combinations to explore. Imagine breeding a horse with an Arabian’s sprint energy and a Thoroughbred’s increased speed. This results in a foal with a stunning and unique visual blend and bonuses to support your preferred playstyle.

The exact outcome of your foal’s breed makeup is shown in the ‘Definite Breed Makeup’ on the Breeding Screen, ensuring you always know what to expect. With so many visual blends to discover, the possibilities are endless!

Check out our updated Breeding Guide in-game for a deeper dive into Crossbreeding. Get ready to mix, match, and create a stable of one-of-a-kind champions!
Cross Breed Bonuses
When breeding crossbreeds, you'll notice a change in how bonus stats are distributed compared to purebreds. Instead of having one stat at +5, the bonus will be split across the two breeds. For example, a Thoroughbred with +5 Jump and an Arabian with +5 Sprint will produce a crossbreed with +3 Jump and +3 Sprint. Discover the best breeding strategy to create top champions

We can't wait to see the incredible horses you'll create as you explore these exciting new features.

That wraps up this update, folks. Thanks for hanging out! Don't forget to stay tuned to the community for the latest news and competitions. Until next time, happy racing/riding, everyone!

We've made adjustments to improve the racing and riding experience in Rival Stars Horse Racing. Horse stats and gameplay balances have been adjusted across all game mods to allow smoother gameplay. Here's a breakdown of the changes and how they impact each game mode.

Flat Racing:
 • Agility: This stat now influences your horse's preferred position and stamina regain. A more agile horse will better maintain its preferred position and recover stamina.
 • Jump: Your horse's jump ability now affects its acceleration out of the starting gate. A better jump means a quicker start!
 • Distance Preference: Matching your horse's preferred distance with the race distance now has a greater impact. Ensuring your horse runs at its preferred distance will significantly boost its performance.

Cross Country:
 • Surface Preference: Cross-country races now feature surface preferences. Choosing a horse that prefers the surface of the map you're racing on will enhance its performance.
 • Controls: Cross-country controls have been refined to give you better control over your horse around tight corners, enhancing overall performance on those more challenging courses.

Steeplechase:
 • Agility: Higher agility increases the size of the jumping zone, making jumps easier to clear.
 • Progression: The difficulty balance has been adjusted for a smoother challenge progression.
That covers the main bulk of the update. Let's take a look at what's coming next.
In our last round of update notes, we mentioned new adjustments to the Free Roam mode and the addition of new patterns. This means the only item left on that list was the introduction of a new breed. Well, we are excited to announce that the American Quarter Horse will join the herd in our next update—update 1.26.
