Apex Legends' Control mode returns soon with some new improvements

Apex Legends' Control limited time mode is returning once again, and players will be glad to see the Respawn's respawn mode respawning once again. Control will be re-added alongside the Awakening Collection Event on June 21, but it comes with some much-needed improvements.

Respawn says that matchmaking for Control has had a bit of a spruce up, so you should no longer be heading into matches with uneven teams. Time limits for matches are back, and there's also "new logic for determining when the match should end" to stop them from wrapping up too early.

It's the actual gameplay changes though that players will be really interested in. For a start, you'll actually keep your fully charged ultimate on respawn if you are gunned down before you can use it. Also, those hold-your-hand outlines for enemy players are gone - you've actually got to use your eyes (or a Bloodhound ult) to see players now.

Apex Legends patch notes - what's new in Season 13?

Apex Legends ranked changes are coming with the next collection event

16/06/2022 16:20 These leaks have now been confirmed by Respawn. The article has been updated to reflect this.

When Apex Legends Season 13 started, the battle royale's players were treated to an overhaul of the game's ranking system. The update, which has been dubbed Ranked Reloaded, saw changes to the assist timer duration and behaviour, kill RP values, entry costs, and ranked tier demotions. While quite a few players have seen this as a positive change, it has ultimately proven divisive, with claims that it's harder to maintain your rank - let alone climb the Apex Legends ranks. Thankfully, it looks like that's going to be a little easier. Recent Apex Legends leaks suggest that more changes are coming to Season 13's Ranked Reloaded update soon. These leaks have now been confirmed.

As reported initially by Dexerto, "reliable leaker" 'AG420' has revealed that Apex Legends' development team are planning to release another update to the battle royale's ranked system alongside the next Collection Event - you can find out about the Awakening Collection Event release date right here.

The changes being made have now been confirmed to be primarily focused on the ranked mode's entry costs - with each division and tier now having an entry cost that's been lowered by 10 RP. There's also going to be improved RP for higher elimination counts to look forward to, as well.

Apex Legends Lifeline buff gives her healing drone infinite HP

Apex Legends' dedicated Lifeline fanbase just keep winning, don't they? Following Lifeline's starring role in the Stories From The Outlands short "Family Business", Respawn Entertainment has just revealed a huge Lifeline buff is due to arrive alongside the Awakening Collection Event release date - which is closer than you think. What's really exciting about this Apex Legends Lifeline buff is the fact that it actually gives Lifeline's healing drone, D.O.C., infinite health.

Yes, you read that correctly. D.O.C. is going to be indestructable from now on. It still lasts 20 seconds, but you no-longer have to worry about it being blown to smithereens in the heat of battle - D.O.C. is tough as nails now.

If you're worried that that's it, fear not. There's so much more to this Lifeline buff than that - even if it doesn't look that way when you check out the Apex Legends patch notes on the Apex Legends blog. Lifeline's healing drone now has a doubled healing radius, and players can opt to cancel the automated revive from Lifeline's Combat Revive ability. Although, we're not completely sure why you would do that... Well, unless you're trying to desperately crawl away from gunfire.
