Respawn are planning a single-player game set in the Apex Legends universe


It sounds very much like there’s a single-player Apex Legends game on the horizon, judging from several jobs being advertised by Respawn Entertainment. Hang on – stompy robot shooter Titanfall 2 was the only single-player game in the same universe as Apex so far. Could this be Titanfall 3 or something else entirely?

Apex Legends pro holds fire after realising enemy has disconnected, even when $2 million was on the line

During last weekend's Apex Legends Global Series esports tournament, one with $2 million up for grabs, professional player Philip "ImperialHal" Dosen did the unthinkable: he held off from shooting an opponent and getting an easy kill.

Dosen plays for TSM, and many would say what he did was unthinkable when money is on the line.

As spotted by Alpha Intel, Dosen heard an enemy player over a nearby ridge. When he moved to investigate, he realised that the enemy is not moving, likely because they crashed or disconnected.

Some new job listings suggest that Respawn Entertainment is hiring for a single-player Apex Legends game.

If anything is signalling the death knell of Titanfall, it's a series of new job listings on Respawn's website pointing towards the developer's next single-player title. As spotted by Dexerto, the Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order developer is currently looking to fill a number of roles for an "Apex Universe Incubation Project."

It's the specific naming of "Apex Universe" that seems to suggest what Respawn is intending to do with a series that has its foundations in the mecha game Titanfall. One of the roles, which mentions the "Apex Universe," is a senior engine/ systems engineer role.
