Apex Legends Season 13 nerfs the Kraber and all LMGs

Apex Legends Season 13 is just around the corner, and today is an important day - it's patch notes time, folks. While there's plenty to mull over, the headline changes include nerfs to all four of the game's LMGs, an interesting tweak to the battle royale's two Fortified legends (Gibraltar and Caustic), and a buff to the Apex Games' most forgettable competitor, Rampart.

So, let's start with those weapon changes shall we? Nine weapons are getting their base stats tweaked in Apex Legends Season 13, most of which are nerfs. The headline changes are the nerfs coming to all four of the battle royale's light machine guns (the Spitfire, L-STAR, Rampage, and Devotion) and to the game's god-like Kraber sniper rifle. The Kraber has had its headshot multiplier slashed, and when coupled with a headshot protection buff to blue and purple helmets, your one-shot Kraber kills are gonna get a whole lot harder.

Shotguns are also getting tinkered in Season 13, with the Peacekeeper and Mozambique getting small buffs, while the Mastiff (which is this season's crate weapon) also getting some balance changes. Find out exactly what's changing to your favourite weapons in the full Apex Legends patch notes.

Apex Legends' Season 13 map changes add loot hotspot to Storm Point

It's safe to say that Apex Legends fans have a lot to look forward to when it comes to the Season 13 update and all the new content being introduced to the battle royale - even without a new weapon. The Season 13 Storm Point map changes are one of the biggest talking points of this new update and the development team have revealed that the new Downed Beast POI is going to be a loot hotspot for players looking to get one-up on their opponents.

Discussing Storm Point's new Downed Beast POI and the map changes that brings, Apex Legends' lead level designer Jeff Shaw outlined the design goals for the addition and revealed that the new location is like a "big, stuffed loot piñata" where the "best loot is inside the belly of the beast".

You certainly don't get 'piñata vibes' from the Downed Beast at a glance, but this is going to be a popular drop spot for players after the Apex Legends Season 13 release date - like any new POI. However, with the prospects of the best loot on Storm Point being inside, it could remain a popular drop spot as the season progresses, into Season 14, and beyond.

The Apex Legends macros cheating debate rages on

Macros have been a hot topic in Apex Legends for some time now. Providing players in the know with the ability to lower - or flat out remove - some of the input barriers to some of the game’s trickiest movement abilities. The use of macros walks the line between taking advantage of all the tools at your disposal and flat out cheating in the eyes of many in the community.

As such, we wanted to dive into the topic of Apex Legends macros and get to the bottom of whether it’s totally fair game, or a form of exploit just waiting for Respawn to stamp it out.

This topic recently get a new lease on life thanks to a popular post on the Apex Legends subreddit titled Why are macros being normalized?? In it, user armadillo_soup states their opinion that macros, alongside editing cfg files or adding scripts is cheating - full stop. Their post was inspired by the circulation of the aforementioned methods being shared widely via TikTok and Reddit as avenues for new movement techniques. Their opinion seems to have struck a chord, as the thread is full of like minded players mirroring their points with added gusto.
