Last night, Respawn updated Apex Legends to apply some much-needed nerfs to Seer. He's the most recent Legend to arrive in the battle royale, introduced at the start of the current season, and honestly he's been a bit of a pain. Seer's abilities revolve around tracking other players in incredibly disruptive ways, and now the devs have made a few changes to make him a little less annoying. Unfortunately, the changes don't seem that noticeable - I played Apex for three hours last night and didn't actually realise there'd been a patch.

Electronic Arts have offered to let other developers use five of their technology patents for accessibility features for free, saying they hope this will encourage "to build new features that make video games more inclusive". The patents they're offering include the ping system from Apex Legends and colour blindness tech they use in Madden NFL. It's unpleasant that they patented them in the first place, and that companies even can patent features that make games more accessible, but I guess at least they are sharing now.

Respawn has rolled out an Apex Legends update that has nerfed Seer quite significantly after players complained that the newest Recon legend was a bit overpowered.

Since Seer was introduced to the game at the beginning of Apex Legends: Emergence, players have expressed frustration his power level and utility.

You can tell EA is serious to implement these chagnes quickly, because we've traditionally seen bigger balance changes arrive in mid-season or seasonal updates, not smaller offerings like this.

Seer strutted into Apex Legends Season 10 Emergence with one of the most overpowered kits we've ever seen. His recon abilities were unparalleled, and while he's been a hoot to have on your team, playing against him is far less enjoyable.

Respawn has been promising Seer nerfs for a while, and would've already pushed a patch for the new legend live had there not been some issues that were discovered before it could be rolled out. Those issues appear to have been fixed, however, as today Respawn gave us the news we'd all been waiting for: Seer has been nerfed. Big time. Seer's passive, tactical, and ultimate have all been nerfed in today's update. You can check out the specifics of each nerf in our Apex Legends patch notes guide, but here are the changes in a nutshell.

Some general changes have been made to make Seer's passive less effective, such as reducing its field of view, but these are all minor tweaks in comparison to what Respawn has done to his tactical and ultimate abilities.

It's no secret that in recent weeks Call of Duty: Warzone has seen several of its biggest streamers gravitate towards rival battle royales like Apex Legends. While many briefly returned to Warzone yesterday for the in-game reveal of Call of Duty: Vanguard, and celebrated the news that it would finally receive a new anti-cheat and new map later this year, many were quick to return to Apex once the event was over.

Arguably the most high-profile streamer to shift from Warzone to Apex Legends recently is Nick 'NICKMERCS' Kolcheff, who has been grinding the game's ranked mode and has been largely positive about his experience playing Apex.

During his August 19 stream, NICKMERCS swiftly returned to Apex following the Vanguard reveal event and jumped right back into some competitive action, having recently hit Master in the Apex Legends ranks. While he admits to his chat that he has "zero desire" to play Warzone right now, and that he "fucking loves" ranked Apex, he does admit that there is one major issue with the ranked system he would change.
