Apex Legends datamine hints at the possible introduction of Cryo grenades

Apex Legends Season 10 has got off to a relatively good start, devoid of any major game-breaking bugs. But while Respawn is already working on nerfing Seer's abilities, the community's attention has been drawn elsewhere.

That's because 'Shrugtal', a notorious Apex Legends dataminer has uncovered references in the game's code to a new grenade. This grenade is apparently called the "Cryo" and it looks like a Thermite grenade, but with an icy-blue colour scheme.

Shrugtal says he spotted this when a new point of view model was added to the game, but believes it to be in "very early dev status" based on the dull skin colours. However, another Apex Legends leaker 'iLootGames' says this grenade is actually being playtested right now and instead of burning players, it actually "freezes" them.

Apex Legends lead designer fired over old racist and sexist comments

Daniel Klein, the now-former lead game designer on Apex Legends, has been let go from Respawn Entertainment, due to sexist and racist remarks he made in 2007. Klein has since apologised, though it seems his days working on Apex are over.

Apex Legends cross-platform progression coming next year

Apex Legends has had cross-platform play since October last year, letting players group up with their pals regardless of whether they're playing on console or PC. Unfortunately, it still doesn't have cross-progression, meaning that once you start an account on a platform, your progress is stuck there. Good news on that front though: during a Reddit Q&A over the weekend, Respawn Entertainment assured players cross-platform progression will arrive next year (they just have to sort out some complications first).

Apex Legends and Titanfall hackers caught in elaborate plot to revive Titanfall Online

Last month, hackers took over Apex Legends for a brief period of time to supposedly encourage the developers at Respawn Entertainment to "save" Titanfall. Both Titanfall games, over the last few months especially, have suffered hacks and DDOS attacks leaving them in a bit of a state. At first glance, it would seem the folks participating in the Apex hack were the good guys who only turned to hacking to trying to raise awareness of their troubles. Nope. It turns out the very same group behind the Apex attack are allegedly the cause of Titanfall's issues too, and it's apparently all part of a messy plot to revive the cancelled spin-off, Titanfall Online.
