24/04/2023 Apex Legends' official website for Season 17 has revealed that "changes are coming to Ranked play". The copy of this article has been updated to reflect that.
The next update for Respawn Entertainment's battle royale is on the way and new Apex Legends leaks suggest a rather important change is coming to the way this FPS' ranked mode operates. We can't say for certain just yet, but a new Apex Legends leaker has suggested that Ranked Splits are going to be a thing of the past from Season 17 onwards - and it makes a lot of sense.
According to 'Apex Micro Leaks', it looks like Respawn Entertainment is going to completely remove Ranked Splits from the equation in Season 17. So, if you find yourself climbing Apex Legends ranks next season, you should find it one continuous uphill struggle.
We know this is a new source, so it should be taken with one or two rather large pinches of salt, but changes to Apex Legends' Ranked Splits is something fans have been calling for and it actually makes quite a lot of sense when you think about the Ranked changes Apex Legends has made prio - in Season 16.

Respawn Entertainment's latest Stories From The Outlands short is here and it confirms that Ballistic is Apex Legends' Season 17 character - and that he was the Thunderdome Games' first celebrity champion. If that isn't Apex Games' heritage, we don't know what is. However, it also explains why he's back in the fictional battle royale Apex Legends depicts - and it's quite an interesting reason.
In the Stories From The Outlands short, which was preceeded on YouTube by an infomercial for a drug that uses Prowler Blood to seemingly fight muscle decay, Respawn Entertainment offered Apex Legends fans a quick background into August "Ballistic" Brinkman and where he is nowadays.
Interestingly, the leaks weren't completely wrong - Ballistic's son had just qualified for the Apex Games. However, Ballistic is shown to make a deal with Eduardo Silva to keep his son from actually participating - offering himself instead. This isn't a deal done lightly, either. As you can see for yourself, Ballistic lives up to his name and makes it very clear to Silva that this isn't a deal he should refuse.

Well, would you look at that. Our first official look at Apex Legends' Season 17 character has appeared and it was leaked by none-other than Respawn Entertaiment itself on the official Apex Legends Blog post detailing the upcoming Veiled Collection Event. Oh dear, oh dear - what a blunder!
Captured by eagle-eyed Apex Legends fans like leaker 'Garret', it looks like Respawn Entertainment initially uploaded its' Veiled Collection Event Apex Legends Blog post - which you can read for yourself here - with key artwork relating to Season 17 and the new character we're going to be met with. Now, though, it features the key artwork for Apex Legends' Revelry season.
As you can see for yourself below, it seems pretty nailed on that Ballistic is going to be joining the Apex Games when the Apex Legends Season 17 release date rolls around. In the image below, you can see that Balistic is rocking Titanfall's Smart Pistol MK5. He isn't Kuben Blisk, but he's still a legend of the game. So, yes, that also means that the theory that Apex Legends' Season 17 character might go by their leaked name after all is wrong.
