The ALGS is BACK! Tune in and Watch Live Nov 6th.

We’re back! This weekend, November 6, 2022, the ALGS Pro League returns. After a record-breaking Year 2 Championship at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC in July, followed by our biggest Preseason Qualifier tournaments in ALGS history, Year 3’s Pro League is shaping up to be one for the books.
How will DarkZero fare in North America after winning the Split 2 Playoffs and Year 2 Championship representing APAC South? Will Pioneers (ex-GMT) remain on top in EMEA? Will Parkha leaving aD for Crazy Racoon shake things up in APAC North? Can APAC South continue to establish itself as one of the dominant regions in the ALGS? After a busy off-season with a flurry of roster changes in South America, can anyone challenge Singularity for the top spot in the region? Tune in this weekend to watch all the action live!

Apex Legends' Catalyst a "liability" when countering scans

We know it looks like Gibraltar and Newcastle are Catalyst's kryptonite in Apex Legends, but what if something even more detrimental to her success in the Apex Games was the very thing she swore to destroy? Despite hopes that Apex Legends' Catalyst would be Seer's worst nightmare - thanks to her scan-blocking Dark Veil ultimate ability - battel royale players are quickly discovering that this giant wall of ferrofluid is actually more of a hinderance than a help when it comes to dealing with an enemy Seer and his squad.

Why do we think Catalyst should be bumped down a tier or two on our Apex Legends tier list? Well, while Catalyst's Dark Veil ultimate ability does appear to block Seer's Focus of Attention tactical ability and Bloodhound's Eye of the Allfather tactical ability, it doesn't actually block Seer's Exhibit ultimate ability. You know, the scan ability that everyone wants to have a counter for.

If you haven't managed to try using Catalyst to climb the Apex Legends ranks yet and you're not sure why this is actually that much of an issue, a Reddit post from 'NuggetHighwind' explains why, and the comment section is full of people sharing similar excperiences - and grievances.

Gibraltar and Newcastle are Catalyst's kryptonite in Apex Legends

We know Apex Legends' lack of legend changes for Season 15 is "frustrating", especially when you consider one cracked Apex Legends player racked up 874 Catalyst kills in the first day, but you'll be pleased to know that players are already finding ways to counter Catalyst - namely, her Dark Veil ultimate ability - and some are quite a bit more creative than others.

If you're not sure what this Catalyst ability does, allow us to explain. Dark Veil allows Catalyst players to summon a huge wall of ferrofluid that slows and blinds enemies who try to pass through it. Oh, and as something that blocks scans, it proves that Apex Legends' Catalyst is Seer's worst nightmare.

However, while Apex Legends wants Catalyst to appeal to every playstyle - and her Dark Veil ultimate is quite a major part of why she's great in both offensive and defensive situations - you'll be pleased to know that there are actually quite a few ways to counter her and her giant wall of ferrofluid. You just need good timing.

Now, we know we've talked about how Apex Legends wants Catalyst to appeal to every playstyle, but is she really that good at getting kills? Well, in the right hands, it seems so. Catalyst has only been available for around 24 hours and one Apex Legends player has already racked up a whopping 874 kills with her. We know she debuted fairly high on our Apex Legends tier list, but at this rate, she's going to have to be moved up into a tier of her own.

Looking at the statistics provided by Apex Legends Status, it appears that content creator 'IllSpooky' has managed to get over kills with Catalyst in her first 24 hours of being available in what is one of the best competitive FPS games out there right now. To put that into some sort of perspective, that's around 36 kills an hour, on average.

APEX LEGENDS: ECLIPSE PATCH NOTES

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
NEW LEGEND: CATALYST
As a teenager on Boreas, Tressa Crystal Smith and her coven of friends prayed for and by the light of their broken moon. But fate brought her up to it when she ran away at fifteen to join a terraforming crew working to rebuild the moon. She took to the work, feeling a connection between her work with ferrofluid and the rituals of her past. But the unwelcome arrival of the Apex Games brought her peaceful life to an end. Now she joins the Games as Catalyst, a Legend determined to bring change and defend her home. She can use her ferrofluid to reinforce doors, form piercing spikes and obscure the playing field with high ferrofluid walls. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, and by the time her opponents make the call? It’ll be far too late.
PASSIVE: Barricade
Reinforce doors, strengthening them and locking them to enemies' spaces where doors have been destroyed can also be reinforced.
TACTICAL: Piercing Spikes
Throw out a patch of Ferrofluid which turns into spikes when enemies are near. Catalyst remains immune to enemy spikes.
ULTIMATE: Dark Veil
Raise a permeable wall of Ferrofluid. Enemies who walk through it will be slowed and partially blinded for a brief time.
NEW MAP: BROKEN MOON
The Legends are dropping onto not only a Broken Moon, but a divided one. Explore the beauty and serenity of the Eternal Gardens and Bionomics, or venture to the moon's dark side and visit marred, industrial locales like The Perpetual Core and Breaker Wharf. Grapple, climb, or use jump stations to access new Zip Rails and traverse the jagged terrain. Built for locals to quickly navigate the slopes and chasms of Cleo, they’re just the thing for Legends in a hurry.
GIFTING
Whether you’re introducing a new friend to Apex Legends or welcoming back an old one, you don’t just want to catch them up on the story. Share the freshest Apex style with other players via the new Gifting system, which allows you to purchase bundles and cosmetic items in the Store tab for your in-game friends.
STICKERS

Stickers are a brand new cosmetic we’re introducing this season that lets players equip stickers to healing items! Whether you are regen-ing your shields or healing with a syringe you can now do it in style! All players will get the Shattered and Deathbox stickers for free when Eclipse launches. Players can also unlock 20 new Epic Stickers for a limited time from the Sticker Pack Series 001 available in the Special Stores Tab 11/1/22 - 11/22/22 only and not available in the general loot pool.
