Apex Legends' Christmas event coming with Winter Express LTM teaser

30/11/2022 Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that the Winter Express LTM will be available in Apex Legends from December 6 in the Wintertide Collection Event. The copy has been updated to reflect this.

Are you eagerly awaiting the Apex Legends Season 16 release date? Well, you'll be pleased to know that there's a lot more to look forward to before then - even if we're excited to learn more about the next new legend. Respawn Entertainment is teasing it's Christmas event and - more excitingly - the return of the Winter Express LTM. First featuring in Season 3's Holo-Day Bash Collection Event, this would be the fourth time battle royale players will be able to jump into the high-intensity action on offer.

Why do we think Apex Legends' Winter Express LTM is coming back? Well, Respawn Entertainment tweeted an image of the World's Edge train - which serves as the setting for this LTM - with a series of snowflakes. It didn't explicitly say that the Winter Express LTM was coming back, but it seems very likely given what Respawn Entertainment has offered players in the past - and the tweet, which you can see for yourself on the PlayApex social media account here.

Following on from this, Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that the Winter Express LTM will be available from December 6 during the Wintertide Collection Event.

This small Apex Legends Ash buff could make her a top tier legend

In recent months, it's become something of an agreed upon point in the Apex Legends community that Ash needs a buff. Despite seeming quite the effective killer on paper, her Arc Snare tactical ability is lacklustre and her Phase Breach ultimate ability is situational at best. However, all is not lost - we have seen Respawn Entertainment make drastic kit changes to legends before, after all. If you're wondering what changes we could see, though, one fan has suggested an Apex Legends Ash buff that would make her truly unstoppable.

Taking to the Apex Legends subreddit to share their thoughts, 'Wing6781' believes that introducing a silencing mechanic to Ash's Arc Snare tactical ability is one way Respawn Entertainment can buff this legend and feed into her character as a ruthless killer - and make her a more viable pick when trying to climb the Apex Legends ranks. As a mechanic we're already seeing in the battle royale through Revenant's Silence tactical ability and Seer's Focus Of Attention tactical ability, it's certainly something we could see being added to Ash's Arc Snare.

But, we would be lying if we didn't say we're skeptical about seeing something like this in the next set of Apex Legends patch notes.

Early Apex Legends concept art shows a very different Storm Point

Old pitches and concept art for Apex Legends' first four maps have been unearthed online, and it shows an interesting view of a flat Storm Point that existed before the map's sloping, elevated design was finalised.

A fan of the battle royale has uncovered a treasure trove of old concept art living on the Art Station account of a former Respawn employee. While a lot of it was posted up to three years ago, and some of the early designs for the stars of our Apex Legends tier list have been circulated by the community before, we highly doubt any of you will have seen this concept art of Kings Canyon, World's Edge, Olympus, and Storm Point before.

The artist, Hethe Srodawa, was responsible for drawing up some of the earliest visions of these maps, and his Art Station showcases some early concepts and inspirations boards. While Srodawa left Respawn a few months after Apex Legends launched in 2019, he was still clearly responsible for helping inspire maps that would come to the game as recently as October 2021 with Storm Point. Srodawa currently works as the art director at Gravity Well, a new studio set up by ex-Respawn developers that is making a AAA title that's yet to be revealed.

Apex Legends Horizon bug defies physics with finishing moves

Thought Apex Legends' Horizon was deadly enough with her physics-defying Gravity Lift tactical and Black Hole ultimate? Well, battle royale players appear to have found an Apex Legends Horizon bug that allows the eccentric astrophysicist to force downed enemies through walls and out of bounds - at least on Olympus, anyway. However, we're not quite sure they meant to discover this exploit.

Spotted by Apex Legends player 'Enjoipandarules', an unfortunate victim of the Horizon exploit we're talking about, it looks as though Horizon players can spam a finishing move on a downed enemy to push them into a wall - and then clip them through it. We know we like to say this is one of the best battle royale games out there, but it's clear that this game still isn't perfect.

Hilariously, looking at the clip itself (which you can see below), it doesn't actually look like the Horizon player has knowingly discovered this bug. When the downed player is clipped through the wall, the Horizon player appears to look around confused at their opponent's sudden disappearance.
