Apex Legends Season 14 update might have made Mad Maggie meta

Apex Legends' Season 14 release time is looming and Respawn Entertainment has just shared the patch notes for this free-to-play battle royale game's Hunted update. While we already knew a little bit about what to expect from this Apex Legends update, one thing that hasn't been revealed until now are the exact buffs and nerfs being dished out to the game's legends. With Apex Legends patch notes now out in the wild, it makes for interesting reading - especially if you're a Valk, Gibraltar, and Mad Maggie main.

While many will focus on the huge and much-needed nerfs to Valk (and the surprising lack of nerfs to Seer, who grew massively in popularity throughout last season), there's one very interesting change to Mad Maggie that could be quite significant in Season 14. To combat her pretty awful pick rate, Respawn has buffed Maggie's Wrecking Ball ultimate - and it's about to piss off everyone it comes up against.

Not only has Wrecking Ball's duration been doubled and can travel twice as far as it used to, it will now deal damage (thus potentially destroy) loads of legend utility, such as Loba's Black Market, Newcastle's Castle Walls, and Caustic's gas traps. The biggest shock of them all? It can now take out a Gibby dome.

New Apex Legends character Vantage comes with her own custom sniper rifle

Apex Legends: Hunted is soon to release, and leading the charge is Vantage - the youngest Legend ever inducted (or abducted) into the Apex Games. Vantage hails from the icy world of Pagos, and her skills as a sharpshooter are borne out in her three powerful abilities - not least of which is her custom sniper rifle Ultimate, which she can bring out before the ability has even fully charged in order to snipe enemies and mark them for increased damage for her entire team.

Take a closer look at her dangerous-sounding abilities in the new Apex Legends vignette trailer below.

Apex Legends ranked Season 14 will kick off with new Kings Canyon

As another dose of seasonal content from Apex Legends approaches, so too does a new ranked season. In Season 14, we won't see quite as many massive shakeups to ranked as we did last season, but we will have a newly-reworked map to play on.

In an interview with Respawn developers ahead of Season 14, The Loadout learned from lead level designer Jeff Shaw that for the first ranked split of Apex Legends Season 14, players will be dropping into the revamped Kings Canyon. Throwing the reworked map - which in the past has been criticised for not being as viable for high-level competitive play as the other three maps in the battle royale game - straight into ranked rotation is a bold statement. However, Shaw is confident that the changes that have been made across Kings Canyon will make it "more of a competitive map" this time around.

Various changes to the "map health" of Kings Canyon have been made, including better distribution of loot, a new POI in Relic, and attempts to make existing POIs like Cage and Relay less campy and enclosed. A full rundown of changes can be found here.
