World's Edge is back in Apex Legends, which means we're dropping Fragment

World’s Edge is back in Apex Legends, and any long term player will know what that means. We’re dropping back into Fragment! This point of interest is a beloved hotspot for early game drops, meaning a large chunk of the match population will be dropping there as their very first stop.

But why is that? Well, for one, it’s massive. Even with a large number of squads dropping there, you’ll likely be able to find a decent amount of loot for you and your buddies to pick up and use against other squads. Secondly, due to its position being somewhat close to the centre of the map, it’s a great spot to rotate out from when the first or second circle starts drifting away.

When the circle remains over Fragment, you can be certain that fresh squads will continue funnelling in from all directions, so it’s also one of the best places to hold up if you’ve got a taste for action. It’s a good thing people who like hot dropping - intentionally starting in heavily contested locations - are typically starving for high-intensity games.

World's Edge returns to Apex Legends today after 98-day absence

Rejoice, Apex Legends fans, because the World's Edge map is returning to the battle royale game today, 98 days after it last featured in either the ranked or regular map rotations. The map was completely absent in Season 12, and the first seven days of Season 13 have been played exclusively on Storm Point, but today, it returns.

World's Edge is generally considered to be many players' favourite map, but it's also the top choice for pro and competitive play, too, which is why players will be glad to see it find its way back into Apex Legends' map rotation for Season 13. Right now, it's only in regular lobbies, as Apex Legends ranked players will have Storm Point as their Split 1 map this season. The map for Split 2 is currently unknown.

The map is one that provides great diversity in its locations, from the ice cold Epicenter to the fiery flames of the Thermal Station. Almost every area of World's Edge is ripe for looting and gunfighting, and that's what makes it such a compelling map for players. The majority of the community are more than happy for it to be back after more than three months on the sidelines.

TSM's ImperialHal defends divisive Apex Legends ranked changes

We're not even a full week into Apex Legends Season 13, and already the modifications to the battle royale's ranked mode are causing a bit of a stir. For this season, Respawn has altered the way that you earn RP in ranked matches, and it's generally made moving up the Apex Legends ranks tougher than in previous seasons.

Yesterday, a Reddit post highlighting Season 13's rank distribution sparked a lot of conversation around whether the ranked changes have improved or worsened the ranked experience. While it is slightly trivial to look at rank distribution this early in a split, the post in question does show that the majority of players have failed to move past the first three ranks of Rookie (newly added for Season 13), Bronze 4, and Bronze 3.

With the climb up the ranks clearly getting tougher, and the emphasis on placements and teamwork becoming a talking point for solo players, a lot of casual players have been quick to find fault with the new system. However, for the battle royale's top players, the changes are being seen as a real positive, and many have praised and defended the changes.
