European Apex Legends trio MCD picked up by Japanese team SCARZ

Mikkel, Can, & Dan - the Apex Legends team that was released by North Esports at the turn of the year and came back to win Winter Circuit #1 just a month later without the backing of an organisation - has signed for Japanese esports organisation SCARZ. The trio will be SCARZ's first European team.

Dan 'rpr' Ušić, Mikkel 'Mande' Hestbek, and Can 'Taisheen' Öztürk sat down with The Loadout after their historic win as MCD, and said they were focused on finding an org as soon as possible - but only if it was right for them. They maintain that their team chemistry is unparalleled in competitive Apex Legends, and their no-scrims policy sets them apart from the competition and keeps them in the tournament mindset.

rpr tells The Loadout that the roster's new organisation SCARZ is sympathetic to their systems, and their preparation won't change in the lead up to the Winter Circuit Playoffs and the ALGS Championship. "The org has no issues with us leading our team the way we want to and fully trusts us," he says.

Apex Legends player reaches Diamond rank without using guns

For most of us, reaching Diamond level in the Apex Legends ranks would be an achievement in itself, and the first stepping stone on the way to becoming an Apex Predator. However, one player took it upon himself to make things more difficult by not using any guns on his road to success.

No guns, you say? How could one do such a thing? While we're disappointed that Matthieu 'Mpé' Pereira hasn't checked out our Apex Legends weapons tier list, his feat is nonetheless mightily impressive. Using only grenades and his trusty fists, Mpé punched and pummelled his way to Diamond rank, which requires an astonishing 7,200 RP and puts him in the top 4.37% of players.

You might think that Mpé resorted to ratting it out to the final few teams, or that he relied on teammates to carry him to victories, but that is not the case. His aggressive playstyle utilises legends such as Bloodhound or Fuse running headfirst into fights, fists flying.

Apex Legends: Overtime comic series set to release this summer

Apex Legends fans may have only just got the hang of playing on the move with the Nintendo Switch port, but now the hit battle royale game is entering another medium entirely. Apex Legends: Overtime is a comic series produced by Dark Horse comics, who create the comics that supplement the Overwatch and God of War lore.

Dark Horse also published Pathfinder's Quest - a hefty tome which filled out a lot of gaps in the Apex Legends lore - last month. Apex Legends has a history of publishing digital comics in-game to tell the stories of each season, but this will be the first time the beautiful scenes will see print. If you're sick of climbing the Apex Legends ranks, perhaps it's time to cool things down with some reading?

The four-issue limited release has been written by Titanfall writer Jesse Stern, with Respawn writers Tom Casiello and Manny Hagopian also on board. Having writers of this calibre, with a history intertwined with the Titanfall universe, is a sure sign of the comics' quality, and fans are already excited at the prospect of more lore content for the popular FPS game.
