Improved matchmaking, quality of life, queue from practice, preparing for launch

Rebound v0.99.0 is now live ːreboundː

You may have noticed we jumped to v0.99.0 from v0.78.0 - that's because this is the last patch before the v1.0.0 release on April 11th!
This patch introduces a lot of quality of life and other improvements as well as additions to the Pond which will launch as an open lobby with the game's release.
New features
- Added a sumo minigame to the pond. This is available when making a custom game using the pond gamemode, and will be available in the open pond lobbies with the full release on April 11th.
- Pressing escape in any offline mode now pauses the game
- Added a shake to the stamina bar when you try to dash and don't have enough. This can be toggled off in the settings.
- Added a zoom sensitivity setting
- Added an opacity slider for your resources (stamina & dizziness)
- Added the ability to start/stop matchmaking queue from practice modes
- Created an internal system that reports the server's latency to players to us so we can make more informed decisions regarding server locations
- Added a setting so you can choose whether puck lift is hold or toggle
- Added a new public API endpoint that allows API users to get a Slap ID from a Steam ID (For creating applications)
- The ranked leaderboard now shows your placement on the top right (note: it will not show if you have not played a match in 7+ days)
Matchmaking
- Improved matchmaking for solo queue and parties, should result in more balanced matches
- Adjusted rating calculations to more accurately reflect your rank after doing placements
Improvements
- Implemented several big performance improvements to the servers
- Added hover tooltips to the abbreviated stats in Player -> Stats
- Added proper controller support to spectator mode
- The escape menu flow has been improved, doesn't close when closing a submenu or closing settings
- Reduced the zooming in/out cooldown after replays from 1.5s to 0.5s to prevent accidental zooms
- Added the zoom cooldown to pressing resume too, so you don't accidentally zoom when going back to your match (Controller)
- Fixed and improved the esports live system; it will now show up when it's set up even when you're already on the main menu
- Added arena size specific caster camera locations, most notable the XL arena now has a better caster camera location
- The recommended region selection now shows you which regions it has selected (by toggling them on when recommended is selected)
- Improved zooming in and out with consistent camera bounds
- Changing the active input device properly resets tooltips; they would otherwise get stuck on the screen
Fixes
- Fixed players not showing on the end game screen if they leave right before it
- Fixed a warning incorrectly popping up when clicking cancel on the video settings
- Fixed main menu interactions when using mouse with a controller plugged in that has stick drift (Fixes character rotations and scrolling)

- Fixed video settings not always properly applying when booting up the game
- Fixed FPS limits not always working when changing scenes
- Fixed the settings menus not properly recalculating their content sizes when a toggle hides/shows other settings
Cosmetics
- Added a variant to devil horns that uses your hair color as the color of the horns
- Added death outfit, necromancer jersey, assassin outfit, oni outfit

Slapshot Rebound 1.0 is releasing on April 11th!

Slappers, we're really excited to bring you the 1.0 version of Slapshot Rebound on April 11th. We've been hard at work on the game every day since the Early Access release in December 2020 when we made a promise to the community on our vision of the game and what we wanted to add to it. April's update will deliver the remainder of those initial promises and starts a new chapter for Slapshot Rebound.
The Pond
With the full release comes The Pond, a social sandbox hub to practice and hang out at while you're waiting for a match or any other time. It contains several minigames, pucks, and other features to give you a no pressure environment to skate around in.
Season 1
Full release introduces Season 1, which will conclude Pre-Season 2. It comes with a soft reset of skill ratings, an all-new season pass featuring over 50 cosmetics, ranked season rewards and several changes to how ranks and matchmaking work behind the scenes.
Season 1 pass sneak peek ːtrainerbuddyː
We saw the amazing feedback you've given us about the season pass and the system we've made for it, so we're doing another! When the Season 1 pass launches, you will be able to choose which pass you make progress towards and earn rewards from - even if you never bought any. The pux received from completing the premium track of the current pass will be enough to purchase the Season 1 pass.
Pre-Season 2 rewards: Gloves!
This season's rewards will be distributed on April 11th with the launch. You will receive the gloves for the highest rank you have achieved in the season and all ranks below it as well as a unique title. The gloves are made to fit perfectly with the sticks from Pre-Season 1.
5 Years of Slapshot
The first Slapshot game released on March 8th, 2019. Today marks the 5th anniversary of the game franchise! As a homage to the player characters who were simple poker chips during the Slapshot 1 beta, you can redeem the Poker Chip back cosmetic for free by using code FIVEYEARS in the in-game shop until March 22nd. Check out LaffTrakk's montage recapping some amazing moments of the last 5 years.
What's after?
The game's full release does not mean that it is finished, but that it is graduating from the beta state it was in during Early Access. Over the course of the last 3+ years we have added a lot of features, fine-tuned gameplay and polished the game. We will keep doing exactly that and build on top of the foundation that the Early Access development has provided. During Early Access, our key word has been BUILD. Build features, iterate on them, polish the core game and gameplay. Our new key word after 1.0 is GROW. New features will be aimed at attracting new players and giving players more reasons to stick around while staying true to our core values.

See you on April 11th ːreboundː
