UPDATE 08.04.2020

[h2]New Features[/h2]- Added permanent pets to the itemshop
- Added 14 day exp, gold and drop bonus potions to the itemshop

[h2]Changes[/h2]- Improved Moonwalk Emotion
- Changed some skill names and descriptions to match their skill better
- Buying of expired items from player shops is prevented now (this is a temporary fix, removal of expired items from shops will follow in another update soon)
- The character select scene is now loaded in the background and does not freeze Inferna for long periods anymore
- Improved memory usage by unloading old maps before loading the new ones
- Improved walkable area of caratas and jerro cities
- When setting a price for an item in the player shop, the price is now also displayed as a formatted number

[h2]Bugfixes[/h2]- Fixed a typo in the level 49 and 56 helmets stats on +8 and +9
- Fixed a bug that allowed sending friend requests to an already "friended" player
- Fixed not displaying the correct error message when displaying the coin purchase list fails

[h2]Team Internal Changes[/h2]- /spawn is now capped to 100 mobs to prevent bringing down maps on accident

Q1 In Review

The first quarter passed last week, so we figured it'd be the time to review the roadmap and talk a bit about how Q1 went, what is going to happen in the future and our general changes to the roadmap

When we first released the roadmap we certainly thought it was ambitious, but doable. As these things go fixing bugs and interacting with the community (be it through support, talking to users or just reading and listening to what all of you have to say about Inferna) took more time than we thought. So we sadly did not finish everything we wanted to



[h2]Let start with the bad: [/h2]
  • Improved Character Animations: We royally messed this one up. We started too late and spent too much time looking for an animator we were happy with, which is to say we found someone now and they'll be starting to redo the character base animations soon
  • Quests: Writing quests is another area where we missed our goal completely. There is nothing inheritly hard about implementing new quests, it's just super time consuming. We're definitely looking to improve this in Q2 though
  • 1 new map: originally when we made the roadmap we thought people would be more vocal about the small game world we currently have, this did not seem to be a huge issue with the community so far, so we decided to prioritize some other things first
  • Ranking lists: As with the map, the community did not value this one as important and to do it properly we'd like to have ranking lists for a variety of stats with weekly competitions aswell, so we'll get to that in the future



[h2]Moving on to things that are going well, but certainly could've gone better: [/h2]
  • Guilds were originally planned for Q1, but got moved to Q2 a while back. Guilds are going to be one of the next few big features to land, we'll talk to you all more about that soon ;)
  • Improved Character Look "HD Player Models": We're making good progress on this, but it still needs some work. We've started work on HD hairs and beards and once that is finished we should be nearly ready



  • Performance & netcode improvements are always an on-going process and with the changes we made so far we solved the worst/most common issues, there was another set of changes in the netcode planned, but at the current time we figured we can spend our time better elsewhere



[h3]We're generally pretty happy with the changes, new features and bugs squashed. While there is a lot of work to do still we think we're moving in a good direction for the future. [/h3]

[h2]On to the future now. [/h2]

As you might expect we have moved the following points from Q1:

- "Improvement Character Look" moved to Q2

- "Ranking lists" moved to Q2

- "lot new Story Quests" and "some side Quests" have been merged into "Quests for all level ranges" and moved to Q2



[h2]We've dropped the following points as they're not specific enough or are an ongoing process with no real end goal: [/h2]

- "network code improvement" and "game performance improvement", aside from one large change needed for mobile there isn't any big "milestone" change planned currently, there is lot of smaller improvements to be made which will happen with time

- "1 x new maps" will happen with the 2 planned new maps in Q2, if we feel like another map will be beneficial we'll expand on that goal

- "New Game Translations" Currently we're dependant on community translators to help us out, so when and how new languages get translated is unpredictable (your language not supported/outdated? apply here: https://discordapp.com/channels/533809130037706792/653669547479400458/690141795283238941 )

- "improvement of translations" The main languages are kept up-to-date by us and our lovely community translators fairly quickly. This is an ongoing process since we have about a hundred new or changed phrases to translate in a typical week. Thus there isn't much value in keeping this around as a goal



[h2]Then there's some changes to Q2 and onwards [/h2]

In Q2:

- "Adding 3+4 inventory page" is somewhat obsolete now with the 3rd inventory page being available. We'd still like to investigate the idea of more on-character storage in the future, but we'll get rid of the goal in the meantime.

- "Account wide storage" has been added. This has been a widely requested feature, so we're adding it.

- Mobile versions have been moved to Q3, this hasn’t been a widely sought after feature and the technology we’re planning to use could probably use a little while longer to mature aswell. So we decided to postpone it a little and prioritize other things first

UPDATE 02.04.2020

New Features
- Activated the easter event! Collect eggs! Exchange them for loot!
- Added new HD horse mount models
- Added new armored horse mounts
- Added a new tiger mount
- Permanent versions of mounts are now available in the itemshop

Changes
- Loot drop animation is now slightly more random

Balance updates
- Matched the respawn time of some monster between Jerro highlands and Caratas wasteland
- Reduced the required materials of some refine recipes

Bugfixes
- Fixed a bug causing player shops not to sync their movement correctly if you were in range of the shop
- Fixed missing player shop buy confirmation popup translation
- Fixed rifts/monsters sometimes spawning in inaccessible areas
- Fixed an edge case that could cause skills to be reset again when logging into a shutting down instance at just the right moment
- Fixed target indicator staying when the selected entity disappears
- Fixed backstab skill damage falling when reaching master

- Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash on startup if it could not read/write the settings file

- Rule against real money trades: In addition we would also like to mention that any trades for “real life” money are not allowed or supported in any way and will be interpreted as an attempt to scam players and punished accordingly.

As you probably noticed, this weeks update is very small.
We didn't get much done the past week, since part of the dev team has been sick (getting better and nothing serious - so no worries there). In addition to that, with isolation increasing and schools being shut down some of us have also been more occupied watching after their kids and family.
We're also working on some bigger features that will be released over the next month or two, to name a few there's the easter event (that'll be available very soon), guilds and the new HD character models - more about that in due time though.
You can also expect a more detailed post reviewing our progress on the roadmap, review of the suggestions and changes going forward sometime next week which will hopefully clear up some questions and concerns aswell.
