DLC sneak peek: Gunships and exploding bugs

Troopers, listen up!
A-12 Pegasus Gunship
The A-12 Pegasus Gunship is a formidable addition to our aerial arsenal, the first air unit that players can control directly. It's capable of flying over any terrain or obstacle, giving it unmatched mobility. It only has to pay attention to Arachnid types capable of firing at air units — for example the Hornets, Scorpion, and Ravager. The A-12 Pegasus is equipped with a powerful minigun to provide fire support against ground targets, while its rocket pods allow it to take down larger, armored foes.
Exploding Bugs - The Burster
The Burster is a new Arachnid unit capable of firing a volatile substance that explodes after a short time delay. Its area of effect (AoE) blast is devastating against infantry and armor. Additionally, it has an unfortunate trait of exploding upon death, causing damage to both allies and enemies nearby. Destroying one at an opportune time can turn the tide of battle.
New purchase menu
To accommodate all the new units, we are experimenting with a redesign of the radio station’s purchase menu. The new tab-based layout simplifies navigation through various options while ensuring they remain easily accessible. Each tab corresponds to a battle tier and its associated delivery platforms, making it easier to find units.
More explosions and ragdolls
The latest DLC introduces new air units and vehicles, enhanced with ragdoll physics for more dramatic deaths. Air units plummet to the ground and vehicles are ripped apart by internal explosions —because who doesn't appreciate a good spectacle?

Closed Beta signups for the Urban Onslaught DLC are still open. If you're eager to experience the new content first hand and help shape its development, this is your chance! Sign up for the closed beta here.

That’s all for this update. We can't wait to see how you use these new features in your strategies. See you on the battlefield!

More rockets and giant scorpions

Greetings, troopers,
Welcome back to our development update! If you haven't heard yet, Closed Beta signups are now open! And that's not all; we're thrilled to unveil some new units and improvements to our editor tools. Let's take a closer look at what's new.
Ravager
Our Federal Intelligence has unearthed a menacing evolution of the Scorpion Bug, now known as the Ravager. This formidable foe is larger and more lethal than its predecessor, capable of launching explosive projectiles that inflict significant area damage. Armored units should exercise extreme caution; when critically damaged, the Ravager sheds its tail and shifts to a melee combat mode, wielding its massive pincers that can easily penetrate armor.
Rocket defense: M23 Cloudburster
To counter the new Arachnid threats, Federation research has developed the M23 Cloudburster. This versatile machine is armed with a missile launcher system and features two operational modes to maximize combat efficiency: stationary for defensive tactics and mobile for dynamic strikes. It is specifically designed to tackle swarms and execute precise long-range attacks against formidable adversaries like the Ravager and the monstrous new Tanker mutation (featured in a future post).
Fleet Liaison update
We've upgraded the default attack capabilities of the fleet liaison unit. They now call in precision air strikes on designated targets, significantly extending their engagement range and enhancing their role in providing crucial air support. They are now a very effective counter against Scorpions.
Streamlined editing tools
All the scenarios in the game are crafted using our custom in-game editor (which is fully integrated and accessible within the game itself!). For this DLC, we're embracing a new level of verticality, incorporating a broad array of assets to construct towering buildings and skyscrapers. We have made improvements to the editor’s selection tools, making it more intuitive to select, modify, and fine-tune elevations and prop variations.

As of this week, we've opened sign-ups for Closed Beta testing of the Urban Onslaught DLC. This is your chance to experience the new content firsthand and influence its development.

The Starship Troopers RTS is getting new DLC, and it's cheap right now

If all that Helldivers 2 has you thinking about perhaps its biggest inspiration, then the 2022 RTS game Starship Troopers Terran Command is worth a look. The bug-blasting strategy game is a robust offering and, while it might not quite top genre titans like StarCraft 2, Age of Empires, or Command and Conquer, it captures the spirit of the satirical action movie very well. Developer The Artistocrats has just unveiled a new DLC, making now a great time to check in, and you can even grab the base game cheap in a Steam sale if you're quick.
