Patch Notes for Kristala Version 0.1.2.0


The following patch notes detail all the features, highlights, and bug fixes included in Kristala Version 0.1.2.0. With this significant update, Episode 1 of Kristala's Early Access release is now 95% complete.

[h3]Features & Highlights[/h3]
  • Addition of the Capital City of Nisar (accessible through the main questline). If you have already completed the level, you may visit Nisar by picking up a key from the final Ellarial Font, allowing you to travel back to the starting Font and bypass the locked gate at the start of the level.
  • You can now upgrade your weapons by visiting Brutus the Blacksmith.
  • A third boss fight has been added to the game, accessible from the city of Nisar.
  • Various NPCs and Questlines have been added, including Prada Lun, Levida, and Grinning Grimaldi.
  • Addition of a Greatsword Weapon type (plus two new classes). If you have already completed the level, you can find the Greatsword as a pickup near the final Ellarial Font.
  • Dynamic Difficulty mode added to the game. Begin a New Game to start your journey in a dynamic difficulty, or toggle the dynamic difficulty on/off within the game's Settings.
  • An option to hide the HUD has been added to the Settings menu.
  • Various minor adjustments to combat have been pushed to make the overall combat experience even more interesting and fun.
  • Many improvements have been made to navigation within the Menu system.
  • The Spell Tree’s overall presentation has been improved (prices of Spells now added and clearer focus to the UI).
  • The Drain life spell can now be used until you run out of Mana.

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Menu Systems:
    1. Bugs related to binding new controls are now fixed.
    2. Bugs that caused Menus to "freeze" are now fixed.
  • Spells:
    1. The Roar spell's perk no longer plays its related sound before the spell is actually cast (it was previously spawning alongside the spell itself being cast).
    2. The Invigorate spell's perk now also works as it should, healing an instant amount of Health before continuously healing the caster.
  • NPCs:
    1. NPCs that don't have an active dialogue cannot be interacted with and now use the correct idle animation(s).
    2. Some dialogues were automatically progressing after a few seconds, resulting in some voice lines being cut short. They are now correctly timed.
    3. Distance dialogues now won’t play twice if you move back and forth without completing them.
    4. Single-distance dialogues won't play again if you reload the map (either by dying or by loading a game).
    5. NPCs will no longer spawn appearing to float or seem as if they're buried in the ground.
    6. Enemies now no longer fail to rotate towards you during combat.
  • Miscellaneous:
    1. All boss music now correctly stops after you die.
    2. An issue causing characters (both the player and the enemies) to fall through the terrain has now been fixed in the vast majority of cases.
Known Bugs for Kristala Version 0.1.2.0


The following is a list of known bugs and issues we're actively working on addressing in Kristala Version 0.1.2.0. Updates on these issues will be detailed in future patch notes.

  • The NPCs' quests will not work properly if you've already progressed further than their area.
  • Some dialogues automatically progress after a few seconds, resulting in some voice lines being cut short.
  • After receiving a takedown, enemies will not take damage and will temporarily behave abnormally.
  • The character is experiencing a load-delay in the Character Creation menu, resulting in some invisible areas showing before they load in.
  • The character jumps when closing a tutorial.

Small Hotfix for Kristala Version 0.1.1

The following hotfix was pushed to Kristala Version 0.1.1: update to address an issue within the Accessibility Settings in which altering these settings would in turn affect the overall gameplay settings, ultimately preventing players from being able to change enabled tutorials.

The following patch notes detail all the fixes and updates included in Kristala Version 0.1.1.

  • Rebinding keys in the Controls Settings Menu were fixed.
  • The game’s Photo Mode is now working as it should.
  • The DLSS default mode has been turned off.
  • The Grass Density default value has been set to High.
  • Fixed UI issues related to equipped items.
  • Motion Blur and Bloom settings now work as they should.
  • A slider to control mouse sensitivity is now available within the Settings menu.
  • An issue preventing enemies from properly spawning has been fixed (some were falling through the terrain, causing them to disappear and granting random XP and items).
  • Voice options A and B can now be played and previewed within the Character Creation menu.
  • Fur options will now show even with Effect Settings set to Low in the Character Creation menu.
  • The Character Creation menu now shows a confirmation pop up to finalize or discard your customization selections/changes.
  • Navigation and displacement of elements within the Spell Tree menu have been addressed and improved.
  • The overall player experience within the Shop menu has been improved.
  • Camera issues related to dizziness while playing have been addressed.
  • The camera will no longer move when using the mouse/touchpad while playing with a gamepad.
  • The camera will no longer behave abnormally during frame rate drops.
  • The camera rotation lagging has been adjusted to improve the overall experience and avoid motion sickness.
  • A small deadzone has been added to the camera input to avoid the camera from moving on its own.
  • The camera auto rotate has been adjusted to not interfere with the regular movement.
  • The overall damage coming from Poison and Bleeding has been adjusted, preventing a massive amount of damage from applying when stacking.



Known Bugs for Kristala 0.1.1


The following is a list of known bugs and issues we're actively working on addressing in Kristala Version 0.1.1. Updates on these issues will be detailed in future patch notes.

  • The character is experiencing a load-delay in the Character Creation menu, resulting in some invisible areas showing before they load in.
  • The game has been presenting some issues for players with AMD video cards; we’re investigating this and will update you ASAP.
  • The performance still needs further optimization, particularly for cards below series 20’s. If you have one of these cards, the game may freeze/crash at times; we’re actively working on addressing this issue.
  • Players may fall through the terrain in some areas; this appears to be completely random, and we are actively investigating the issue to address it as soon as possible. To work around this issue, quit to the main menu and reload your game.
  • At times, enemies may fail to take damage if they're not yet engaged in combat.
  • Some enemies may appear to randomly glitch and “dance” during combat. Typically, continuing to attack the enemies will fix this issue.
  • Some of the input icons may appear incorrectly after you change them; this only affects the icons themselves - your changes will be retained.
  • NPC Zazagrul may appear floating or with half of her body underground.
  • Some enemies may appear underground but will focus on you as soon as they notice you.

The following is a list of known bugs and issues we've pinpointed for Kristala Early Access Version 0.1.0 and are actively working on addressing. We'll share update notes once a new build has been pushed to the application.

[h3]General Bugs[/h3]

  • Some key enemies fail to spawn when they should (including bosses), preventing you from progressing. To work around this issue, quit to the main menu and reload your game. This will make those enemies show properly.

  • The game has been presenting some issues for players with AMD video cards; we’re investigating this and will update you ASAP.

  • The performance still needs further optimization, particularly for cards below 20’s series. If you have one of these cards, the game may freeze/crash at times. We’re actively working on addressing this issue.

  • Players and enemies may fall through the terrain in some areas; this appears to be completely random, and we are actively investigating the issue to address it as soon as possible. To work around this issue, quit to the main menu and reload your game.

  • When being attacked by enemies near walls, you may become stuck or accidentally pass through the walls.

  • At times, enemies will ignore your damage if they're not yet engaged in combat.

  • Some enemies may appear to “dance” rather than fight you. Typically, attacking the enemies again will fix this issue,


[h3]UI Bugs[/h3]

  • Navigation in the Spell Tree is currently not functioning as it should; at times, the button will lose focus and navigation won’t work properly. The only workaround for this is to momentarily use your mouse to refocus.

  • Photo mode has been presenting many bugs and is not working as it should. This should be addressed very soon.

  • The character is experiencing a load-delay in the Character Creation menu, resulting in some invisible areas showing before they load in.

  • Currently, the Voice options in the Character Creation Menu don’t play when selected; this will be addressed very soon.
