The Sims 4 Growing Together adds some much-needed spark to Sims' relationships

Last week, I attended a hands-off preview for The Sims 4's upcoming Growing Together expansion pack and its supporting free base game update. This was obviously a real treat for me as RPS' resident Sims fanatic, but I'll admit I went in with my expectations parked in neutral. After all, the theme of this new-content duo is young families, and that just isn't part of the game I engage with too much these days.

The Sims 4’s next free update expands on customisation options with scars and birthmarks

The Sims 4 is releasing its next base game update on March 14, and there’s plenty to be excited about if you’re a Simmer. This free update will introduce an all-new life stage at long last, Infants, but Maxis has revealed that this isn’t all that’ll be included.

Previous free updates to The Sims 4 finally saw players able to choose the sexual orientation and pronouns of their Sims. We also saw incest accidentally added to the game, too, but we won’t dwell on that.

This time around, Maxis is striving to be even more inclusive by introducing further Create A Sim customisation options, including scars, birthmarks, and even caesarean scars. Revealed via a brand-new trailer, which also showcased what infants look like in Create A Sim, we can see that there are various body markings players can choose from.

The Sims 4's will add infants in a free update on March 14th, but just two days later the Growing Together expansion will arrive. It aims to expand lifetime milestones for more than just children, as well as adding new complexity to relationship dynamics. You'll find a trailer explaining exactly how it all works below.

Family Life is Evolving

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Family is at the center of a lot of the choices and milestones your Sim will be faced with in the Growing Together Expansion Pack. For example – will they let their parents move in with them? Saying ‘no’ will impact those relationships and saying ‘yes’ could make life at home a lot more complicated. What if your Sim’s parents don’t get along with their partner? For you, the choice might be whether you want to keep the peace or stir up some drama.

New relationships are getting more dynamic too. If your Sim goes out to meet new people, they might find someone they instantly like who they could be friends with for life. Or they could meet a lifelong enemy. Social chemistry will make some Sims click and some Sims clash, and how they navigate these feelings is up to you.

Watch the trailer to see what's possible.
