Update 2.0.4

Update 2.0.4 Includes the following Player Experience Changes:

These changes have been made to balance out Player Experience and gameplay.

This Update includes the Full Version and the Demo.

Player Experience Changes
  • Power Ups spawn more frequently in Boss Levels

  • The Auto Scroll's position was fixed to reduce the time it takes to move the screen

Changes
  • The HP for some Bosses has been reduced

  • The Huge Bullet Power Up and the Charge shot damage has been reduced to accommodate the lower Boss HP

  • The Max Bomb count has been changed to 20

  • The Checkered Markers used for saving have been made transparent. So, they aren't Checkered Markers anymore right? Still to avoid save data corruption, make sure the level has been fully loaded before exiting the game or powering off your device. When the game has been saved an "Game Saved" text will appear. Wait until the text disappears before powering off your device. As a reminder, the game doesn't save on the start of every level. Sometimes you need to complete the level first.
A recap of when the game saves
• On the Start of some Levels
  • After Dialogs
  • After Cutscences
  • The way Shields work have been changed. When a Shield is equipped and the Player gets another Shield, whichever Shield they currently have will be destroyed and the new Shield will be equipped

  • Weapon Power Ups still function as they have

4 New Modes have been added to the game!

To unlock Boss Rush, the Story Mode needs to be completed.
VS Battle
•
VS Enemy Battle
Playable in 1-4 Player Modes
If you play in 1 Player Mode, you see how fast you can defeat the set number of enemy ships.
    You can choose between 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 & 1,000.
You can also choose the spawn rate of the enemy ships from 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 seconds.

If you play in 2, 3 or 4 Player Mode, players compete to see who can defeat the set number of enemy ships first.

  •
High Score Battle
Playable in 1-4 Player Modes
Play through 4 levels with a boss every 2 levels.
If you play in 1 Player Mode, you go through the set number of levels to see how high of a score you can get.

If you play in 2, 3 or 4 Player Mode, players compete to see who can get the highest score at the end of the levels.

Endurance

Playable in 1-4 Player Modes
Endurance Mode is an endless Wave style mode, with 5 Waves per Planet.
When you complete all planets, it starts back at the first planet, but the enemies in each wave increase and the enemy spawn rate increases.
There is a point where the mode will stop getting harder.

Boss Rush

Playable in 1-4 Player Modes
In Boss Rush Mode, you play through all bosses in the Story Mode in the order they appear and see how quickly you can defeat them.

There might be a secret at the end if you complete it.

Player Experience Changes

Steam Achievements have been added!
Play through the Story to see how many Achievements you can earn and unlock!

With the addition of the new modes, Steam Leaderboards have been added to show your friends you're all that and a bag of chips with the high scores! Just like in the arcades where people competed for the high score! Now you can too!

The crew at StarSpace Nebula has gotten moody!
Now some character dialogs have moods.

Instead of enemy ships just appearing on screen, they now gradually appear.

Hear that rumbling?! No, it's not thunder. It's your Xbox One controller!
In different parts of the game your Xbox One controller will rumble!

Other X-Input controllers should also rumble as well. Although other controllers have not been tested.
As a reminder, Direct Input Controllers are not supported to play the game. For a list of Direct Input Controllers please search online.

Also, the PDP Arctic White Wired Xbox One Controller doesn't work well in the game. The analog joystick cuts out and makes a stuttering effect with the player ship.

As another reminder, it's best to use the Official Xbox One Controller by Microsoft.

Changes

The Multiplayer Input Selection Screen has been changed to a more simple input selection.

For example,

in 1 Player Mode, even though player 1 automatically has both Keyboard and Controller inputs enabled, if you select Keyboard as your input, the Controller will be disconnected from gameplay. But, if Controller input is selected, the player will have Keyboard input, and the Controller will stay connected.

When choosing 2, 2 or 4 Player Mode, you have to option to choose from:

P1 Keyboard, P2 Controller
or
P1 Controller, P2 Controller

and so on.

As a reminder, only the first player can use use the keyboard as their input method.

How the game saves has been updated to accommodate the new modes.
Progress will also save during certain cutscenes.

As a reminder, do not exit the game or power off your device during these.
